Great For Catching Wayward Pets!
The media could not be loaded. I took a chance after reading the reviews and am happy with it. I can get all 90° of my kitchen from the corner. I like that you can set it to a pet’s sound for notifications (mine goes “woof-woof” and it’s cute). It does catch people too (bummer!) and loud enough noises but it tells you in the notification if it’s motion or sound which is awesome! I sleep late so my husband unplugs or hides it so it won’t detect him going in and out of the kitchen and the notifications won’t wake me up but then forgets to put it back or plug it back in when he leaves for work. It will still send notifications but not make any alarm if your phone is set to Do Not Disturb mode which is also a nice feature. The picture is pretty clear for facing two windows. I dropped it about a foot onto its front lens and it didn’t crack, break, glitch, error or anything. It still works perfectly. I like the magnetic base feature and the cool metal ring so you can mount it under cabinets or on a wall. The swivel up and down is nice but I have to manually adjust the left to right. It didn’t seem to offer being able to move the camera view in the app. One day, it would have been nice to shift the view down via the app because it got bumped and I wasn’t home to adjust it and didn’t know it until there was motion detected. When I get in my car, which has hands free and I try to connect to the camera, it dials through my phone unless I shut off the WiFi. I don’t get that. It also won’t stay connected to the camera for more than 2 minutes if it goes through the vehicle. It also takes longer to connect to the camera, even sitting in my driveway.I haven’t had any weird squealing sounds when I connect like a few others have. I do wish that, when you expand the camera view on the phone/app, it wouldn’t automatically enable the *microphone*. I want to catch my dog sniffing the counters and wanted to see if she’d jump up to get something off of them but if there is any noise around me and I can’t shut the mic off fast enough, she hears it and leaves the kitchen before I can catch her in the act.The overall camera and access is free, but you have to pay if you want to access recorded video from it. It’s about $5/mo which isn’t bad at all - it could come in handy if you miss notifications or can’t access the camera quick enough.I did buy another brand but I am not happy with it. It only records in 1 minute increments, CONSTANTLY notifies you of ANY movement, has a confusing app that took me forever to figure out and annoyed me so much, so unplugged it and gave up. I would buy more of this PetCam instead. My two issues are these: It says you can share the app/camera but I can’t figure out how (the YouTube video is outdated, my app didn’t have the links or steps they showed) and I would like a way to OPT to be able to have the microphone be able to be turned off before full camera access if the consumer prefers it. Also, the USB to wall jack sticks out like 2” from the wall and where we have it plugged in was annoying so I purchased a flat one instead. Otherwise, so far, very happy with it. Had it about a month now.

do not plan to mount these cameras
Overall really happy with these pet cameras. It does pretty much everything as advertised and there is a lot of freedom as far as the app use. You can choose to stay at the base level and use the cameras as is to check in periodically or get the premium subscription which isn't super expensive for more features. The reason I am not giving it a full five stars is because of their mounting system. If you set the camera up on a shelf or like a tv stand, then it works great. If you want to mount it to the wall in almost any capacity the mounting bracket is not secure and is backwards from what you would want for ease of use. As an example I tried to set it up so I can view my entryway and the kitchen behind it but in order to mount it in the way it is manufactured the cord goes down the wall, the camera faces the ceiling. The big issue with that is the camera is 360 but it has a stop at the position of the cord (which is facing down the wall) and it does not move one direction endlessly. So if I start with the camera facing the entryway and go to move to view the kitchen I pan over the ceiling. I personally would rather it pan over the floor because then I get a better vantage point of all the rooms. Part of the reason this is such an issue for me is because I can't move the camera to a different vantage point because of things either blocking my view or a lack of outlets in various spaces. Needless to say I have configured some kind of different mounting system but its taken a lot of effort on my part because they don't give you a lot to work with. This could easily be fixed if they reversed the mounting setup or used a more standardized system like the screw for cameras or baby monitors etc. I'm really not sure why its set up the way it is. I can't imagine a scenario where it would be useful the way it is. Bottom line plan to get the most out of these cameras somewhere level so you don't have to mount them. The mounting system is only useful to secure it and even then impractical unless you are going to screw it into a shelf..
