Great Head Unit with Reliable Wireless CarPlay
This screen was easy to install—just a wire harness, and it worked great. It fit my truck well, even though it originally didn’t have a screen, so I had to make a few adjustments. Once installed, it was perfect. The Bluetooth connectivity is solid, automatically pairing with my phone every time I start the car. The EQ adjustments allow for good sound customization, and the screen layout is intuitive. I specifically bought this for wireless Apple CarPlay, and it works flawlessly. Maybe once in 100 times, it won’t connect right away, but that only happens when I’m running multiple errands with frequent car restarts. One minor issue is that when my car starts, it connects to my phone but doesn’t always open Apple CarPlay automatically. Instead, it sometimes displays a basic media screen with my phone’s music, showing skip, pause, album art, and song info. It’s not a dealbreaker, but I’d prefer if it defaulted to CarPlay instead.Overall, this is an excellent digital multimedia receiver with great wireless CarPlay functionality and an easy installation process. Highly recommend!

Gorgeous screen
The glass screen really makes the head unit pop. The colors are rich and it's so easy to see in the sun. It's tiny and leaves a lot of space behind it for wires and such. The built in Alexa seems kind of crippled as it won't let me use the drop in feature (yet). The audio quality is great - love Pioneers quality.BUT The downside I almost dinged a star off the rating is the miserable volume and capacitive buttons. What idiot decided to get rid of good physical buttons is beyond me. Thankfully my steering wheel controls let me have my physical button without delay - but there seems to be a small delay on the screen's buttons and it was so frustrating when cranking up my subs and not having good control to quickly turn up and down the volume. The iOS app to design your screen layout and such is really cool and firmware update was easy. The instructions are subpar on the app, but I figured it out without reading a manual so, I suppose that's intuitive enough. The customization of this head unit is really wonderful. I typically only use carplay for everything - but the layout options with using my phone's hotspot for weather, sports, alexa, etc. makes it nice to have options instead of just carplay.

I would not buy any Pioneer product again.
This unit is half baked. The icons on the left for menu, mic, and volume don't work. Getting a software update to transfer is impossible using the directions. Android Auto keeps crashing. When it does not crash, it is very frustrating to use. The users manual is lacking. When playing in Bluetooth music you cannot fast forward or advance whereas previous ones would allow me to touch the timeline to put the focus on where I wanted itUSB instead of Wi-Fi connection doesn't work with Android autoBluetooth does not reliably play audio after connecting. Generally the solution is to turn off the car and turn it back on. I wish there was a power button on the stereo unit itself to reboot the stereo without having to reboot the car. When in Bluetooth, Guidance is not a separate volume control. There's only one volume control for Bluetooth. However that is not using Android Auto..With wireless disabled, connecting phone via USB cable, Android Auto stops functioning and indicates to get the time to match between the stereo and phone. The stereo does not allow me to manually change the time. And it will not sync the time with cell phone connected via USB.I clicked on the browser and it gave me a gray rectangular box across the screen. Turning off the car, even overnight, did not help. A day later, it came out of its coma somehow. These are just a few of the issues I’ve had.I called Pioneer support and they do not provide tech support on the phone. They said the only thing I can do is to uninstall the stereo and send it in to one of two service centers. My worst nightmare.I have 30 years of IT so I feel sorry for anyone who buys this flaming pile of crap and tries to get anything to work.

Amazing head unit!!
This Pioneer has been out for a few years, so I feel for the people that had any issues due to buggy firmware since its release. But I guess I got lucky buying this now in 2024.Had a model under this one, the Pioneer 2770NEX, and it was excellent as well. But this not only sounds better. But it’s loaded with way more features to customize your audio settings. Time alignment, crossover slopes, etc. Wireless CarPlay works flawlessly. And the 4V pre-outs for my 5 channel amp made a huge difference. If you’re looking at this in 2024, it’s absolutely worth it.For an all in one solution for steering wheel controls and back up camera retention, I highly suggest you get a harness from Spiral Audio.

Pricy
Simple, unit is pricy but it does feature a full EQ with adjustability, and many more features packed in there. I will agree with most my WIRELESS CarPlay is glitchy and will sometimes drop, but I tend to use the usb for charging anyways. One star down for not being able to program CarPlay properly. Otherwise very densely packed with features.
