Essential for a repair of broken HDMI connector with installed cables
Use this connector to repair a broken cable (occurred when moving the TV for decorating) which was a super find because the 10meter long cable is installed under carpets and through the wall from sky in the front room through to the kitchen (along with coax for the magic eye) and not an easy one to replace. It was successful but fitting one of these is a fiddly job and needs a degree of diy experience, some tools (multimeter, sharp wire cutters or wire stripping tool), some time and attentions to detail to map out the pins and the wire colours from the old broken connector (using a multi meter for continuity testing) to the pin mapping as provided by the seller here, I added a few pictures to show how I worked through this. Probably about 2 hours in all to map the pins, prepare the cable ends and attach them in the screw down sections in the new connector.

Used to Convert HDMI to Network cable
Great little device. Back Story: I have a 20 meter HDMI cable that runs from my loft to down the back of the house underground and into a conservatory to a TV mounted on the wall. It took me a couple of days to install the cable about 6 years ago. The cable was used to send live TV from a Sky Plus box in my loft (hidden out of sight). With the advent of Sky Q and Sky mini's the cable became redundant. As we now have a Sky Q mini hidden behind the TV in the conservatory and connected on the WiFi system from Sky. Over the years the Sky Q mini would drop out from the WiFi and the picture would freeze or show a blue screen or start buffering and it would then need a reboot to get back up and running. I knew the answer was to send Cat5 Network cable down the same route as the old 20 meter HDMI. When I found the device on Amazon I had a light bulb moment to convert the HDMI cable into network cable. So bought 2 of these and 2 female HDMI adapters. As HDMI cable has twisted pairs of cables like Cat5 I did the following connected a network cable to the each device and wired them as follows: Orange->1 Orange and White ->3, Blue->4 Blue and White->6, Green->7 Green and White->9, Brown->10 Brown and White ->12. Plugged everything in and put network cable tester on all works perfectly. My Sky Q mini is now hard wired to the home network and runs like a dream.

Actually quite useful!
These rescued me where a cable had been plastered into a wall and damaged later. There was not a hope of running a new cable in the wall, let alone the parquet floor it then passed underneath for a tabletop projector. By using these cables at both ends, not only were we able to rescue the 'source' end where the damage was, we were also able to shorten the very much overlong cable at the projector end, too.Bear in mind that these are unshielded plus no doubt to enable such relatively chunky connections the spacings are sub-optimal; and screen jitter was noticeably present when Dolby Digital data was transmitted at the same time as the picture. Thankfully the Home Cinema amp was able to remove the audio signal (after all, this isn't needed for the projector!) and the signal cleaned itself up nicely. So overall, 10/10.

HDMI plug
Tore my cable plug off which was embedded in the wall. This plug allowed me to use it again.

Don't bother
Unless you are totally into rewiring hdmi connections don't bother with this. No instructions and to many wires with the same colour make it impossible.

Does the job but fiddly

Buried HDMI cable damaged
The end on the HDMI cable buried in our wall was damaged when we were moving our TV on it's swivel wall bracket and I was told by 3 different TV/Cable Installers you can't fix a broken HDMI cable and I would have to dig the full cable back out of the wall and replace it.Bought one of these and a multimeter after some internet research.Couple of hours patiently clipping the broken end off and resistance testing each of the 20 pin positions and hey presto fully repaired with no need to rip the wall apart.Total repair cost of less than £20. Excellent product.

Didn’t work
Ordered 3 of these so I had a spare. Connected ends to a hardwired cable in the wall but the cable failed. Cable tester indicated pin10. Swapped wires around still failed on pin 10. Took the ends off and connected them with a shirt offcut to rule out a cable issue, still failed on pin 10. I can only assume this is a faulty batch.
