Superb camera for everything except high magnification photography
This is a very versatile camera. I am still learning how to get the best out of it. It takes very high quality close-ups and it also has the ability to 'stack' photos - this means that the camera takes up to 10 shots all at slightly different focal distances and then uses internal software to produce the best composite image that it can.the ladybird above was taken using macro with a 4X zoom (max). The flowers were taken using the SCN (scenery) setting. There are a lot of things which you can adjust, including fun and special effects for SCN mode. You can, of course, just put everything on 'auto' and it will produce some good quality images. But I am learning to set the ISO and other variables such as exposure compensation to get different effects.Stacking requires you to keep the camera very still. It is best to use a tripod but I find that you can use it with practice in the field by setting the camera on a delayed times (4 seconds, say) and then holding it very still. It is not the cheapest small camera on the market but I've been very pleased with it.(It is, of course, designed for underwater photography but I'm not into that. But it's good to know that it won't suffer if I'm caught out in heavy rain.

Three reasons to avoid this camera
I wanted this camera as I had dropped and broken two good but not tough cameras whilst hill walking. This seemed to be the best of the "tough" cameras. Having now used it for several outings, I wish I hadn't bought it for three reasons.1. It came without any lens cover which is bonkers for a tough camera. A cheap one purchased online was rubbish. Then I bought the Olympus one which is extremely good BUT it is expensive and should have been supplied with the camera.2. The shutter button is awkward to use. It is virtually impossible to operate the camera one handed without camera shake or with gloves on.3. The lens quality is a great disappointment. I knew it wouldn't be a match for my previous camera but I didn't expect the pictures to be as lacking in definition as they are.
