You can sew closer to the band than on my Persona cap frame.;
Of course you have to be a little more careful than on a Persona cap frame when mashing down the hatto be able to sew on it, but it's not too bad, and when you're done the hat goes back to the original shape.The one on the right was done on the hoop frame and the blue one on the left was done on the Persona. The only difference is the embroidery on the blue one is a little higher.

It works, but wasn't as easy as I thought (Returned mine)
Considering that the brother hat hoop for my machine cost upwards of 1K, this was a way more feasible option. Technically it works but it was difficult for me to consistently center the design on multiple hats. Definitely works better with snapbacks than it does for fitted hats. Consider getting some extra plastic clamps to hold the hat in place if you're getting it.
