Where is this knife made?

This spyderco is made in Taiwan but it still has the quality you expect. I own this knife and I love it. Thought about buying another.

How well does the Black color of the blade hold up to hard use? Is it Black oxide, a coating (like paint or duracoat,) DLC?

I believe it's a coating but so far it's done well. I'm a Chef by trade and I am always outdoors. I've cut everything from cardboard to wood and produce. Also a few beer cans to test the edge. Its awesome for a knife I picked up under 50 bucks. My friend bought a benchmade griptillin 3 months before I purchased my tenacious and it's not hel up as well.

Will standard 550 para-cord fit through the lanyard hole on the end of the handle?

Yes 550 fits great. I managed to get 750 in there, and it works. So 550 definitely. To get the 750, melt the end with fire and twist it into a point and it'll go in easily.

It does have clip that is secured with 3 tiny screws
