A big improvement over harness and choke chain
My two Herb Springer dog collars black metallic size large arrived today and I was very anxious to try them out. I have three dogs; an older black lab who I have no problem walking, and two much younger dogs slightly over a year old. The two collars are for the younger ones. One is a male Boxador (71lbs) and the other a female Foxhound/Border collie mix. The male has been using a choke chain collar and the female a harness. Previous walks have been a real struggle keeping control of both young dogs! Especially when other dogs, rabbits, and/or prairie dogs are encountered. After my Herb Springer dog collars arrived we went on our first walk. The results were absolutely amazing! Instead of the two younger dogs being out of control our walk was actually very pleasant! We passed two other dogs who previously had been a problem when it came to keeping my dogs under control. No problem at all this time and remember I'm walking another dog besides my two trouble makers. My walk was actually very pleasant which is something new for me. These collars appear to be very well made so I will add a review on durability at a later time. Right now these Herb Springer dog collars appear to be a very good investment!

This makes controlling a 80 lb Husky dog very easy and well made!
I thought this item was expensive so I was thinking about not buying but I am glad I did as I have a Husky dog and can be tough to control but this collar works extremely well and even works better than the harnesses which I spent almost $100 for! This item is very well made and you can get a knock off and save a few bucks but with this one you can tell that it is well made and will last a lifetime and I feel safer knowing that my dog is not going to break out of this and run in the street!Well worth the cost and would highly recommend to all other dog owners who love your pets!

Life-changing for our German shepherd
We got this collar in the mail and I was a little hesitant to use it because I thought it looked mean but I decided to give it a whirl and it has been life-changing! My German shepherd is 80 pounds and I am 7 months pregnant and this has made our walks SO.MUCH.BETTER. She stays right by my side and isn't pulling me! This leash doesn't hurt her because she isn't crying, it is simply sending her a message when she veers off or tries to pull. Once she tries that she feels the little prong and looks back at me and comes right by my side. It is very well made! My only criticism and maybe I am just missing something is opening it to put it on and off of my dog - I have just been pulling up one of the prongs and then piecing it back together onto her neck. not sure if this is right?! seems like there should be an easier way. overall, we love it and it has been life-changing walking our dog with this collar!

A Life Saver
I just had to write this review because this product has had such a profound affect on my life and I needed to share with others who might be in desperate situations like mine. 15 months ago we adopted a 112 pound mastiff mix from a local shelter. Although we leash trained him right away we just couldn’t break him of charging when he saw a cat or another dog walking by. I tried everything from the no pull harness to the gentle leader and nothing worked. I was told to use positive reinforcement when he saw a trigger but I couldn’t even get his attention in the slightest when he was seeing red let alone get him calm enough to take a treat! It got to the point where I was afraid to walk him because he was just so strong when he jolted I was afraid he would get away and hurt someone or something. Not walking him only created additional bad behaviors at home and I was honestly ready to find him a new home. As a last resort I called a behaviorist in who recommended I try this collar in addition to the other training he wanted me to do. I’ve only been using it a week now and the difference is amazing. When he starts to get distracted I’m able to quickly give him a command and get his attention with a very slight correction, doesn’t take much at all. Our walks are so peaceful and it has made it so easy to reinforce commands with him while walking. Today we passed dogs barking behind gates, dogs barking on leashes, people on bikes, cats (all things that would have previously sent him into a tizzy) but I was able to quickly give him the heel, sit and watch me command and there were no issues, amazing! This as a tool along with the behavior modification plan seriously kept my dog in the home with me and I am so grateful.

good dog collar but difficult to put on and off ,
Sprenger clicklink alleviates difficult- to- bend prongs to place and remove collar but this brand costs less than Sprenger, fits collar well, is quite sturdy and does not have an easy-to-lose plastic cover wich is prone to fall off
