Great quality for student artists
I love buying art materials, both cheap and expensive. These are a great inexpensive price for tones of vibrant colors, and are prefect for just about anyone who is interested in watercolors, coloring books, and art in general. Watercolor pencils do have a bit of a learning curve, but once you figure out how to use them, they can be a great tool. The Arteza ones specifically work well for layering without picking up too much of the previous layer. Many of the colors are very pigmented, and it's very easy to build up saturation, add definition, and blend multiple colors together. I don't know how lightfast these are however, and based on the price, I wouldn't say these are "professional" quality in respect to the life of whatever art you make with them, as professional materials usually include that information since it's pretty important to professional work that gets shown in galleries or exposed to light from windows. The biggest negative with these is that the color pigmentation isn't the same for every pencil. Some of them are amazingly vibrant, while other are just okay. However, it's pretty easy to layer more pigmented colors that will blend into the color you need if one of the other pencils isn't cutting it. They also sharpen very easily, but keep a good one on hand because you'll need to sharped between each use if you are working with finer details.

Absolutely Love these pencils!
Love, Love, Love these amazing pencils! Thought I would take a chance on these pencils even though the price point says they're probably not going to be any good, boy was I wrong. That comes after having several different sets of watercolor pencils, some high end. I own Caran Dache Supracolor, Faber Castel Albrecht Durer, Staedtler Karat aquarelles, Derwent Inktense, and these are up there with the best, the lines made when laying down color immediately disappear when water added, which can't be said for all watercolor pencils, some lines won't go away at all. There's many vibrant colors that are great wet OR dry, they layer and blend well, and are colorfast for over 100 yrs is their claim. A few colors are very pale/pastel and when water added, is barely a color at all, but I suppose it has it's place, even if only as a base. There are also many unique colors that I don't have in any other sets, one is called Mint, and looks just like the Andes Creme de Menthe candy, the color, Flamingo, is perfectly the color we always see on a real bird, and Matcha, same color at the matcha green tea powder! Has a nice feel in my hand and sharpen beautifully. They're only halfway sharpened and I'm told they have a clear coating on them when new, so is needful to get that off by sharpening. They have a creamy lay-down, I'd say like Prismacolor Premiers, and have been using my Zig blender, which is double ended and wet, to put color down by swiping the lead on the pencil and it's been so much FUN!!

These Are Beautiful
Being a professional (Expressionism/Folk) artist, I seek quality. I was unsure about these -- until I got them! I have issues with media not being lightfast, and so I am trusting Arteza's claims that these pencils have good lasting quality ... we will see. So, I have not used them on anything major at this point. I did create these tiny ACEO (3.5 x 2.5") pieces with them, and I was exceedingly pleased with the ease of painting with them - not to mention the fabulous vibrancy and color selection. Color is key for my work, and these did not disappoint me one bit. I may get the larger set. I'm currently doing a lightfast test with some of the colors I suspect may be fugitive, but so far, so good - after 30 days on my refrigerator. Well, that's what UV protective spray and good UV glass in frames is for ... We'll see.

Nice blendable color
I do not have a lot of experience with watercolor pencils, except for the cheap craft store brand I bought and hated but I really like these! I work with regular watercolor paints, tombow and zig clear color and I like the portability of the pencil idea for travel. On watercolor paper, these easily lay down medium, are easily color blended before and after adding water, and although I am just getting started with these they seem fast, easy to use and have given me what I think are great results! So far I have only used them directly on paper, then did a wash of water with the portable water filled brushes. I am having a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to trying different applications as well.Since I only have used the cheap, awful store brand and not the high end watercolor pencils I may not have a true ‘artists perspective’, but for my level of talent and work they were a great value and I would definitely buy them again! They came nicely packaged with only one lead point broken off and when you consider the mailing pace to get them in just 2 days I think that’s pretty good!! I have not been disappointed by anything I have bought from this product line, and thanks Amazon for making so many different choices available at such great prices.

Decent Watercolor Pencils, But Not Perfect
I’ve been using the Arteza watercolor pencils for a few projects now, and overall they’re decent, especially for the price. The colors are vibrant when dry and activate fairly well with water, though some shades perform better than others. They blend nicely with a bit of effort, but don’t expect professional-level results. The pencils feel sturdy and sharpen easily, which I appreciate. However, a few of them are a bit scratchy on paper, and the pigment can be a little inconsistent. They’re great for beginners or casual use, but if you're looking for top-tier watercolor effects, you might want to invest in a higher-end brand.Overall, they’re not bad—solid for learning or experimenting, but they do have their limitations.
