Pays for itself many times over
Have had an iGotcha for many years. I previously had the shorter (18') version, but used it so much it finally wore out (probably retrieved a thousand balls with it). Given it's great functionality, I immediately sought out the same brand. This one, being a bit longer, reaches balls others leave behind and it stands no taller in your golf bag that a 3 wood. Bought it this summer, but after a short while, one of the sections would no longer release (and a second section became tight & difficult to release). I never had this problem with the old one, so I contacted the company and - No Problem - they just sent out a replacement. It's nice to have a product that works well and even better to have one supported by great customer service.

60% of the time it works every time
Don't forget to move the yellow lock out of the way before extending this 21 feet out in front of you... Nice long reach and a good design, but I have had a ball fall out, and have also had it lock before picking up the ball. Couldn't see exactly what happened to make the ball fall out, but the spring is a bit sensitive if you miss the ball when reaching into bushes. Overall it does work fine and fits into an individual club slot in my bag, so pretty pleased!

Excellent retriever but tricky at long extension
This is far better than other retrievers I've used. The main advantage is the positive locking system such that, once you've got the ball, YOU'VE GOT THE BALL!Additional skill is required is when the ball is in/on a soft mud bottom. Tripping the capture mechanism requires a bit of force and if the bottom is too soft, it's possible to push the ball further into the mud...and potentially out of sight. I've found the best way to minimize problems is to give it your all on the first attempt; get on the ball lightly and then give it a full push to engage.I bought the 21 footer because, well, in for a penny, in for a pound. I haven't really used it at full extension and it think it might be a bit difficult for two reasons. First, you are trying to precisely control the heads position by moving a 21 foot lever at the fulcrum. Lotsa luck with that. Remember, you have to land on on the top of the ball and not spring the capture mechanism before you get there. Second, though the manufacture does its best by using a good thickness aluminum, approaching 21 feet it gets a little springy and difficult to control. All that being said, I'm very satisfied with the retriever. I usually use it at 10-12 feet lengths and it is plenty rigid and easy to control. The capture mechanism is simply the best there is. If I bought it again, I would entertain getting a slightly shorter length, but for a few extra bucks, maybe having the the 21 foot reach is comforting, if not too practical.Besides, at 21 feet, it is undisputably the biggest stick in the bag!

Ball Retriever
This club was a Christmas gift for my husband who lost his old ball retriever. The mechanism to pick up balls seems to be slightly cumbersome. It did a good job of grabbing the ball when the retriever was correctly placed, but if you missed the first time, the locking mechanism was activated meaning that you have to collapse the club and adjust the mechanism before trying again. I didn't know it worked that way or I would have purchased a different club. He was pleased with it and said he would keep it, but I think the standard ball retriever he used to have without the locking spring was much easier to use.

It is sturdy, but mine broke easily
One of the sections came apart in 7 days. The clip that holds the ball grabber isn't long enough to keep it from flipping out if it is bumped. This is not my first one of these, but it is the junkiest one and for the price not worth it. No contact from the seller to replace this piece of junk. Segmented sections break easily. NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!

Most effective golf ball retriever
I am an inveterate golf ball hawk, owing to my course having abundant poison ivy-infested woods and numerous ponds. I rarely come home with fewer than 60 balls in good condition. I haven't found a better retriever. Get the 18 footer thoiugh it takes skill to use when fully extended. Not inexpensive but quality costs extra. I haven't bought golf balls in 30 years. And each year I donate 2,500 balls to local thrift shops. Both good things but in the end if my wife asks how I did, I can choose golf score or ball score to report.

I like the improvements from the very good original 18' retriever ...
I like the improvements from the very good original 18' retriever (10 years +) I had and finally did break it. It was very good but difficult to collect a golf ball settling in on soft lake bottoms. The new 21' update is solid & longer (appreciated) but has everything a golf ball that wants to be saved. Light contact and its click around and collects the golf ball all the way out to its 21' length to "Gotcha". You named it right. Well done. Thanks for the quality and its 100% Gotcha ability. Thanks, Don
