Barely better than a whip antenna on a UV-5R
I got this to place on the roof of my car while chasing trains. Connected to a UV-5R. I tested it the the other day with another UV-5R with a Nagoya whip antenna. The radio with this magnetic antenna had a slightly better receive distance. A train traveling around 20mph could be heard (poorly) on this antenna about 30 seconds before the Nagoya whip antenna. I also noticed the quality of the received transmission was noticeably less than the Nagoya. I wouldn't waste my money on this again. I will try a Nagoya UT-72 instead.

Ham Tip
Took the antenna part and screwed it onto a 102” CB whip with the ball tip removed. Now I have a base antenna for advertised bands + CB with a tuner.

Probably not the antenna you are looking for
I'm sorry I bought this antenna. It was intended to be used as a small portable antenna, something I could throw in my suitcase when traveling and use on the roof of rental cars. Well, I tried that last week and it was a serious disappointment. The weak magnet blows off the roof somewhere around 60 MPH. Given that Interstate highway speeds range from 70-85 MPH that minimizes the usefulness of this product. Next time I am going to try it with the wire forward and a piece of Gorilla Tape on the wire.

nice mag-mount antenna
perfect mag mount antenna for baofeng radio. You need an SMA female-female barrel connector because both the radio and the antenna. It works well. Mag is a little weak hance the 4 stars

Not particularly resonant at ham bands
This antenna is not particularly resonant at the ham frequencies. For something advertised as a ham radio antenna, I was hoping for the lowest return loss to be in the ham bands. See the attached pics for data on the two units I purchased. This was tested on the center of my vehicle roof with no obstructions nearby. For reference: 6dB RL = 3:1 VSWR, 9dB RL = 2:1 VSWR, 14dB RL = 1.5:1 .. and you get the point.Anyway, 2/5 stars because it's definitely not as wideband as advertised and I would hesitate to connect anything more than a cheap HT to this antenna. It'd work great for MURS and GMRS.

Antenna works
Gives me more range than factory antenna on gmrs handheld, needs a stronger magnet.
