Liked by young and old
These are by far my favorite pens to use. I’ve tried them all, from the fancy click pens to the fad of the gel pens. I always come back to these. They are affordable, write well and I don’t think I’ve ever had one to leak unless you count the time the pup chewed on the end of one and I didn’t notice. I buy the big boxes because they seem to disappear quickly. Seems I’ve noticed the grandkids like them too!

A Round Stic with some upgrades.
Got the 36 pack of blue and black, which is 12 Blue and 24 Black. Good if you mostly need black but wouldn’t mind a few blue pens as well. The pen has a small textured soft grip area and is labeled as the “BiC Ultra Round Stic Grip”. I note the box and the online pictures both lack the “Ultra” label on the pen.The actual ball of the ballpoint does look larger than the average Round Stic and puts down a slightly thicker line, so I would believe that it is a 1.2mm ball compared to the usual 1.0mm. I don’t see the specific size on the package, nor do I see the EasyGlide ink featured on the box like it did in the text in the online listing — perhaps the pens got an updated ink before the packaging did, and this is what the “Ultra” refers to? It does feel a bit smoother compared to the regular BiC. Color seems similar but slightly bolder , but it could just be the thicker line throwing down more ink.It does feel like the ball / ink formula putting down more ink leads to slightly more blobs and blotting, so it may be a tad messier, but it seems to dry about as well as a typical BiC. Quick smear check showed little difference from the usual Stic. One quirk that stands out is that the cushioned soft grip is where the pen cap slips on, so it feels different when removing or replacing the cap. It will very likely take a bit more force to push the cap off. Posting the cap on the top of the pen feels the same as the basic model.Comfort wise the cushion area is right where I usually hold a pen. It’s not a lot of cushioning, if you want that an Ultra Comfort Glide/Atlantis is far larger and softer. For me, I don’t use a pen often enough to appreciate the added comfort but if work forces you to hold a pen so long it’s leaving callouses, this might alleviate the problem a little (just a little, mind you).Basically it’s like a regular BiC Stic pen in almost every way, with a subtle variance in looks and in the writing likely too subtle for all but those very particular about their pens to notice. The element most notable is the grip, which gives a small bit of extra writing comfort while also making it a little bit of a pain to cap. If you need a lot of cheap, functional, basic pens but don’t like the way hard plastic digs into your fingers, these could be worth a shot.
