I don't need pumpkin. I feed this to my cats. My cats eat it. It's probably good.
I do not eat pumpkin so I'm not sure how this stuff tastes. From the way that my cats go ahead and eat it I'm guessing it's okay. I will tell you the reason I buy this is because my veterinarian recommends it for my male cats and their strange impacted anal glands. Evidently if you feed your cats pumpkin it helps them to get rid of the stuff and you don't have to deal with it so I mix pumpkin into their cat food a couple of times a week and it's healthy for them according to the vet. And I'm not going to argue with the vet. So this stuff is pretty thick it smells okay as far as freshness I suppose. But I will tell you the truth. I don't know what fresh pumpkin smells like. I've never eaten pumpkin. I don't know what it's supposed to taste like. I've never even had a pumpkin spice latte. However my cats eat this, and that is what I can tell you. Cats are picky and I'm guessing they would not eat it if it were terrible. So take that for what it's worth. three out of three cats agree...

real nice pumpkin puree and freezes well
This is great tasting pumpkin.Sometimes my elderly dog will get into people food and it will cause her to have diarrhea. I perm a van of this and give her a tablespoon or two of this and it settled her stomach. She doesn't need much, so I place it on a plate in 2 tablespoonfuls mounds and then flatten them and freeze them. When frozen, I put them in a zip bag and keep it for the next time.I'll keep buying this brand. And it tastes good to this human as well.

Pure, Quality Pumpkin — Perfect for Pet and Human Recipes!
This canned organic pumpkin was exactly what I was hoping for! It’s plain, unsweetened pumpkin, which is perfect. Especially since I first used it to make homemade dog treats, and my dog absolutely loved them. I appreciate that it’s just pure pumpkin with no added sugars or seasonings, making it really versatile for both pet treats and human recipes. The texture is smooth and easy to work with, and I’m excited to use it in future baking projects like pumpkin bread, as well as in hearty soups. If you’re looking for a clean, organic option, this is a great choice. I’ll definitely be keeping a few cans in my pantry!

One scoop a day keeps the vet away...
I always add a dollop of fresh pureed pumpkin to my dog's meals. It's great for them, and they love it. Freeze them as "cookies" for a treat that takes a little longer to eat, or freeze iinside bones.

Thicker than I'd like but you can't beat the price
I bought this for my cats, as they loved the Tiki Cats pumpkin puree I got them that turned out to be just that, overpriced pumpkin puree. Unfortunately the texture of this is quite a bit different - it's much thicker and not nearly as smooth. I water it down for the cats and they still love it, though I've yet to figure out how to add the wheatgrass flavoring that makes them particularly rabid for the Tiki Cats stuff. One can lasts over a week feeding two cats a tablespoonful every night so this is fantastic value for the money for my purposes. I don't bake, so I can't say whether thicker and chunkier puree is better for pie or bread with than the smoother and more fluid puree my cats prefer, but at the very least it's not at all watery and is a relatively uniform texture with just a little tooth to it, so I think that indicates good quality. I've yet to taste it myself but I assume it's good from how eagerly the cats vacuum it up, and it works great for their digestion too. The can size is average soup can size, and there's almost no empty space or excess water inside as I said, so it's good value. It's a nice bright color too, not brownish at all, and I believe it's just pure pumpkin with nothing else in it so that makes it pretty nutritionally sound and a good source of fiber, which is why the cats get it (not just because they love eating it, that's a bonus). There's no pull tab on the can, it's just a standard cheap can, so you'll need a can opener of some nature which can feel annoying in this day and age, but it does mean you can put the lid back on the can easily if you want to store it in the fridge that way after opebi

Good price for a good pantry basic
This bundle of 6 cans of organic puree was 1/2 the price of my normal brand, so I garbbed 'em quick and out them in my cart. I use this product as a dog kibble topper daily and my other brand had increased in price , so I was happy to see the Amazon option reduced, if at least for a little while. Very Good price for a good pantry basic
