Can i use this for crab?

I wouldn't see why not. I caught poisonous snake last night with it and the snake was small. I cant say enough how great this grabber is it holds!!!!

What is the material thickness? I want maximum strength, don't care about weight. :)

Very solid ~ about 3 times the weight of my other but no comparison in how strong it is ~~ has a very secure lock also ~~ can't beat this one.......I have noticed that some on Youtube have "paddles" for grabbers but mine has tthe tetthe ~ I don't want paddles for these SC diamondbacks and ccottonmouths.........lol

Will it work on garter snakes?

My question I guess is why do you need that for garter snakes? Of course it will work on NON-venomous snakes. But if you are uncertain as to the species of reptile best to leave alone.
