Insightful and existential in meaning.
I like the conciseness of the book. It is handy and written in plain language.

Many of his axioms are well worth reading, learning, knowing, and living by..
This is a book that I have been familiar with since shortly after its publication. There is more sound advice in it, than in many university level business management courses. I may have actually worked briefly for "V" about 40 years ago in one of his legitimate businesses which sometimes crossed the line into illegitimate. If "V" is who I suspect that he is, he was born in Sicily in the 1920's and came to America as an adolescent boy fluent in Sicilian, Italian, and French. Learned English here and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1944. Then he was commissioned into the US Army as an Intelligence Corps officer. He, along with about 140 other men, shared the same security clearance as Eisenhower on D-day; but he had already parachuted into St-Lo, the night before, to try to disable the 210mm land based navel gun there. After the war he returned to Detroit and became a legitimate (and alleged illegitimate) businessman and alleged Capo of significant repute. His actual rank in Detroit organized crime is believed to have been significantly higher than a capo. The Feds managed to gave him a "Club Fed" vacation for several years in the early 1980's for labor racketeering. He was an intelligent, well educated, and knowledgeable man of impeccably good manners, and was respected (and often feared) by almost everyone who had business dealings with him. In his own way, he was a "Man of Honor". He died of cancer in 2007.

Interesting maquiavelic vision of the world
You can learn some things, others are totally crazy :) It totally worth it. I would recommend it to someone who is open enough to read something different and learn some stuff together with it.

I remember reading the Axioms in the original Playboy magazine ...
I remember reading the Axioms in the original Playboy magazine print. I remembered a few and they did keep me out of trouble. Over the years I developed a few rules for myself and I am rather surprised that my own self made rules mirrored the ones written by "V". Learning how to manage yourself is the first step to managing others. The things written in this book are not to be taken lightly. When the book arrived I immediately began reading it. I finished in about 3 hours and then began reading it again. This book is a must have for anyone who wishes to succeed at anything. This is one of those few must reads along side of "The Prince", "The Art of War" and "The Five Rings".

It's shorter than expected
I expected the book to be a longer read but finished it in about an hour. It's okay, but if you watch those mafia movies, you will get the same information.

Great book about management
Great book that teaches about how to survive the hard world of dog eat dog companies, but in a humorous way.
