I bought this salmon for my dog for Christmas. She almost 14 years old. In the past I have gotten her toys and different treats. This year I decided to only buy salmon. I was impressed as soon as I opened the first package. The salmon’s texture, appearance, and color are exactly what I would I would expect in a high quality salmon. The taste is great as well. My dog was so excited each time I gave her a bite! She loves this salmon!!

Some of the likes of this product are either to salty or to smoky.

COMPLETELY disgusting it is over smoked over processed grossness it has a very woody texture and is filled with watery juice that stinks plus. it has the skin still on one side what for?it seems they put all their effort into the nice looking packaging good job on that artists but that is not ediblethis is just a canned product in a bag not up to standards usually associated with the great state of alaska i'm so disappointed all those salmon were killed only to end up like this so sad

So far I’ve only opened the garlic pepper variety. I opened that one first because I thought it would be my least favorite!I added photos so you can get an idea how big it is and what it looks like. I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews but I wanted to give it a try.I’m Originally from wa state, we recently moved to Louisiana. I usually purchased smoked salmon from Costco, which I loved, though a different brand. Now, the nearest Costco to us now is about 5 hours away and no guarantee that they would even have smoked salmon! Also, I’m 7 months pregnant and have been craving smoked salmon so I wanted to take chance and see if I could find something I liked that could be delivered!The texture of this is ok. What I was looking for. I don’t really like lox and was definitely not wanting that! The flavor of the garlic pepper is very mild and not very smoky. Not my favorite. This garlic pepper flavor filet reminds me of canned tuna a little. Not bad, just not as good as the other brand I usually buy.There was the expected amount of water when I opened the package. I opened over the plate and took a photo so you can see. The fish looks like it’s folded over to fit better in the package. The skin is thin, scaleless, and edible. Which is good because my kids like to eat fish skin!I will update my review once all packages of salmon have been open and eaten.

We visited AK a year ago and bought some fantastic smoked salmon from one of the MANY sellers right in Ketchikan. One thing we were told was there was local smoked salmon and then there was the commercial stuff. They sold both with no apologies. We bought some local smoked salmon and loved it: flavorful, firm and smoky. Maybe I'm being unfair but this salmon does not really taste smoky, a bit thin and is a tad on the mushy side for my taste. I've enjoyed it but will probably order direct from AK.

I didn't know what to expect when I ordered this. I mean....smoked salmon through amazon. lol but it arrived in very nice air tight, vacuum sealed packaging so no risk of spoiling. They make GREAT salmon sandwiches. Just mix it up with a bit of mayo and season it a little to taste and yeah....pretty yummy I must say. If you like smoked salmon, and can handle it in a shelf safe packaging (some people prefer it fresh...I know), it is probably the best salmon you will taste in comparison to the mainstream brands doing similar things like StarKist for instance. StarKist doesn't hold a candle to these guys in comparison when it comes to flavor and packaging. I am honestly impressed. If I get a craving for salmon sandwiches again, I am certainly using this brand from now on.
