Possibly, but put it into a sleeve of soft material to prevent abrasion

It should. I used to add structure to a strapless sweetheart bodice that I made.

Will this work to make a frame for a bear costume covered in 3' faux fur?...is it rigid enough to support the shape?

Yes I think so. It does come in different widths. You can also use two rows for stability.

Would this work for keeping my shorts from riding up on my inner thighs?

I’m going to try to use this for my shorts by placing it between the seam on the inside of my shorts, seeing it to the seam then covering with iron on patches to help it from being abrasive. I hope it works. Wearing shape wear/shorter gym shorts under my shorts helps too.

Double up for more stiffness

You can use this, but make a slightly wider boning channel and stick multiple bones in there if you need to support a large bust or need more structure than just using one piece of boning. I have always used this boning and it works really well for me. The only way it will buckle is if your corset or bustier is ill fitted to begin with.

Soft, flexible and easy to use

This product is versatile and easy to use. It comes in a roll and I would suggest keeping the plastic strap intact so that you can just spool off what you need without it unrolling on you. The product itself is well made, flexible and lightweight. So far, I've used it for placing stays in a more formal styled dress. It's comfortable to wear without it pinching, and the cut edges are smooth and don't poke. My pattern called for 3/8" , but I used 1/2, which worked out ok. This was a fair price for the large quantity received. Now I need to find some other projects that use this for reinforcement.
