Anyone know the difference between this 8100 and the 8200? please don't answer if you don't know?

Hi Steve This is Ken from Plustek , let me help you. 8100 - No IR function ( can't do hardware dust and scratch removal) bundle Sliverfast SE Plus 8200i SE - with IR function, bundle Silverfaste SE Plus 8200i AI - With IR function ,bundle Silverfaste Ai studio , have extra IT 8 calibration sheet. If you get want to digital film or slide, 8100 is enough. But if your film and slide is old, have dust , 8200i SE will be better chooice. If your expert or photography player(want very Precise color) 8200i Ai software is powerful and IT8 can help you get correct color. What is the difference in this scanner and the 8100iSE you also have posted on Amazon?

As far as I can see from Plustek's web site, the OpticFilm 8100iSE has an additional feature, a built in infrared channel for detecting dust and scratches, plus enhanced software that works with this detection feature. I use Photoshop to do my own image enhancements and edits so I decided not to pay the extra for this feature. However, for anyone who doesn't normally use other software to clean up images and their negatives are not clean and have scratches, then this feature would be worth the few dollars extra. It would be useful for someone who had thousands of negatives and time required to clean them up is important to consider.

Will the plustek connect with my macos big sur, version 11.2.3 ?
