fort worth zoo giant saltwater crocodile can now join our toy zoo!
as you know if you read my review on animal planet's foam crocodile,i went to the fort worth zoo and wanted a souvenir of their massive living dinosaur, the saltwater crocodile. it takes a while for some to understand birds being living dinos, but this guy gets the message through instantly that crocs are too. now the foam croc was my souvenir, but my sisters got plastic zoo toys from walmart that night,so i went on amazon next allowance and was thrilled to find that not only was it perfect size to fit in,it was papo. i had wanted my first papo for a while, and now i knew i could get mine. 1st off, those spikes on his tail make my heart pound fast and hard, and remain one of my favorite things about this toy. next, just stop and look. the eyes, give it so much character,so you know he's much more than just a mindless killer. now,in the mouth is a detail i knew would blow my sisters away. his teeth are individually cut out,and colored. he lacks a tongue, but his mouth is colored, and i only just noticed the lack of tongue as i was typing this,so without being pointed out,it should remain unnoticed for a long time by little ones. another thing, his feet float off the ground kinda, maybe cause his belly hits the ground,i don't know. moving on,his nostrils are sculpted nicely. his belly is sculpted to have scales that are yellow in color. the pose of his tail just, like on the foam animal planet one, looks like he'll dish out a tail-whip finishing move. if there's another figure beside him and their looking at each other,he looks like he's roaring at it (yes, crocs do sort of roar). i can't stop making my sister's tiger face off with him,as it's in a pose as if walking by,looking at something to it's side, and this guy is always looking back, warning that the tiger may be lion's cousin, but in the water he's the ultimate predator. i'll probably post a photo of this later,as well as some others. overall, papo didn't disappoint in the least. 5 star toy,i've seen toys that are just plain sad compared to this one sold at higher prices. trust me,this is the best quality and just awesome price tag. i made a fort worth zoo playset out of a cardboard box that we play zoo on,and this guy is a highlight amongst the other animal toys in it.

Amazing detail
I was stunned when I got this in the mail - the details are very fine and well-done. Every individual scale is rendered in minute detail. Texture-wise, it's amazing. The body has that wet reptilian shine, like it just climbed out of the water. The mouth is smooth and wet-looking, like it was real. The eyes are detailed as well, even though they're small. In the photo here, the model looks slightly multicolored...mine was not. It's an olive green on top and a tan-ish color on the bottom. I like the colors I got better than the one shown here. They're quite realistic. The teeth are nicely done - not clumped together or globby with paint like some other models I've gotten. In fact, that's what impressed me most: in a lot of toy models, the paint job can mess up the details by being too globby or thick (or the exact opposite, and being too thin), but on this model the paint covers everything (and even appears to have layers of green for detailing) but isn't thick or globby. All in all, I think Papo outdid themselves...it's one amazing model.

Cheap plastic made in China. Looks unrealistic
Recently purchased Alligators & Salt Water Croc, both realistic, well made, jaw that can open-close & Made In Germany. Received the Nile Croc and what a cheap product. Dont waste your money on the Nile Croc. Looks like a kids toy cheaply painted. Returning both for refund

Slightly Overpriced
Price was a little expensive for this Toy, but the product seems to be durable and is a very accurate model. It will fit nicely with my other "Crocodilians"

Bought as a joke - smaller than I expected
My friend sent me a text one evening about amazon giving her an ad for this nile crocodile, she had no idea why because she had never bought anything like it before. The next day I received the same ad and we both had a laugh about it. It was then I knew I had to get it as a joke gift for Christmas; her face when she opened the shoe box to see this guy was priceless! Although neither of us actually have a use for it it does seem to be well made, it's pretty heavy and pointy though so for young children with sensitive skin I might avoid it. I also expected it to be bigger for the price.

Small for the price
This product iso ridiculously small for the price. Too much hassle to return the item.

If your a 1:10 scale human, prepare yourself for a fright!
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this little guy.I had just picked him up to throw on my desk since I love crocs and gators, but when he arrived I couldn't believe the level of detail for the price. I guess I'm just used to the outrageous prices one pays for a well-done Naked Snake, Dr. Manhattan, or the like.On the downside, all of my coworkers are constantly picking him up and screwing with him, which I trust he doesn't care for ;-) The worst is when someone asks (or even tells me!) that he's an alligator! In all seriousness, though, if you're looking at this in the first place, just buy it: you obviously like crocs and it's a really cool little model to have around!
