Q: is there a way to connect a battery externally (if internal one dies)? What is the small hole below the keypad?

There is an external battery pack that connects from outside in case the batteries die. The small cap below the keypad unscrews to provide access to the keyhole (so you can also open the door manually with a key if necessary).

Q: How can I disable the beeps so I can open the safe without alerting an intruder?

Hello, i dont think this is an option. I think your first concern in this situation should be your safety (i.e. locking the door) and getting somewhere safe. Step 2 should be dialing 911. Step 3 Accessing your firearm locked up in wall safe. If you want something more handy and quiet, you may want to look at the Gunvault products. They are table top and can be placed right on your night stand.

Plug in the power override (with 4x AA batteries installed) in the jack-receptor on face of keypad. Try to open while it's plugged in and replace main batteries in back of door after opening..
