Deep Dark Brown High Quality Mustard Seeds
Excellent mustard seeds. I make my own spicy pub mustard and these were just perfect. I like the way they are packaged in the heat sealed foil. Keeps them fresh. Heres's my recipe in case you want to try making some mustard:Combined one cup yellow mustard seed and one cup of brown mustard seed in a glass jar large enough to soak seeds with 2 bottles of porter beer. Allow to soak 24-48 hours in the fridge.Add one cup of organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar, one bottle of porter, 12 garlic cloves, 6 bay leaves, 1 step salt, 2 tsp black pepper, and a quarter cup of organic unfiltered raw honey to a heavy bottom stock pot. Cook over medium heat for 30 minutes. Increase to a boil. Boil for 10 minutes. Allow to cool to room temperature (takes a few hours) and remove bay leaves and garlic.Add the mustard seed and beer mixture to the pot. Use a stick blender to mix. Mix until desired consistency. If needed, add additional porter if too thick or additional seeds if too thin. Drink the left over beer if there is any. I place the mustard in canning jars. You need to leave a little extra headspace if you are going to process them in hot water. The seeds swell a little. You can skip the canning part but keep the mustard in the fridge. Give the mustard 3 weeks to reach its best flavor. The mustard keeps for a year if processed. You can triple the recipe with no issues.Enjoy!

Spicy Brown Mustard!!
These seeds are awesome!! I bought them, along with some yellow seeds to try my hand at homemade mustard. So far all of those who have tasted the mustard are begging I keep them in supply. I'll post the recipe below. It's so easy there's just no reason not to make your own!! Cheers!!Spicy Brown MustardIngredients1/2 Cup Mustard Seed – Yellow & Brown 50/501/2 Cup Distilled Vinegar1/4 Cup Water (I use RO water because it's neutral)1/2 t Kosher Salt1 t SugarDirectionsGrind the mustard seeds with a spice grinder to the desired consistency. Put them in a pint canning jar and stir in the vinegar and water. Stir occasionally until seeds have absorbed most of the vinegar & water. Maybe a couple hours or so.Stir in the salt and sugar, put the lid & band on the jar and refrigerate. Allow a couple days before using. Trust me on this one!!It’s a little spicy. You can adjust the spice by using more or less brown seeds. The brown seeds are the hot ones! Just make sure you still use 1/2 cup total. If it’s a little runny you can add a little mustard powder to thicken. If it’s too thick just add a little water.

Tastless
If you are looking for decorative mustard seeds, you found them. If you are interested in cooking with, making mustard, or anything to do with flavor or scent. Don’t buy these.

I was amazed by the freshness of Frontier Co-op Organic Whole Brown Mustard; the seeds have a rich, earthy smell that instantly hints at their robust taste. Whether grinding them into a homemade mustard mix or using them whole in cooking, their functionality is exceptional. Even more impressive is the germination rate! These mustard seeds sprout beautifully, proving their premium quality for both culinary and gardening uses. A product that delivers bold flavor and thriving growth? That is a win in my book! 🌱✨

Making mustard?
I bought this to experiement making our own mustards. I didn't realize how much 3lbs would be. We made 1.5 PINTS and didn't even use up an entire pound. The quality is very good. The packages all sealed well and in 1lb increments so I don't have to worry about the other 2lbs getting bugs or going bad. Overall the price was also really good for Organic.

Pretty Strong Mustard
This is like typical mustard that can be spicy addition to your food. Mustard is high quality and we really enjoyed it. It had slightly unexpected taste, that we eventually get used to. Otherwise, I would give it 5 stars

Toast 1/4 cup of this mustard seed over medium heat [no oil needed] in a non-stick pan for about two minutes (shaking the pan every so often to evenly toast) and then let it cool and GRIND it in a spice grinder or mill! HEAVENLY!Mustard seed is not only delicious but soooooo good for you because it contains selenium, tryptophan, omega 3 fatty acids as well as phosphorus, manganese, magnesium, dietary fiber, iron, calcium, protein, niacin and zinc [information via WHFoods: Mustard Seed].This mustard seed makes an excellent part of a spice rub on chicken and pork and grilled veggies.YUM!
