Hi when they are closed what is the hight from the back leg to the front, and I am building a false floor in my van to slide them in

The measurement front to back of the closed steps is 14cm. However, at the top when the plastic top is folded, that measures 17cm. Does that help?

What's the width between the ladders when fully open? I need them wide enough to go across two mini steps to access the loft. Thanks

Hi, Adam. Listen, I'm really sorry I've not gotten in touch with you but I've had a stinker of a cold all this week and (according to my wife) I've been all wrapped up in myself Poor , poor me. And, I haven't been into any of my outbuildings, where the ladder is. Anyway, I'm there now and I hope this is going to be of use. Front to back, the distance of the spread at ground level is 50" (1meter 28) and in width, again at the bottom and at ground level it's 22" (57 cms) I do have one grumble about the ladder though. I must have forgotten about the times I've worked back in the States with these glassfiber ladders and it must have gone out of my memory just how heavy they are compared with the good old aluminum ones. There is a substantial difference in weight. This in itself wouldn't be so much of a problem if there more "grip-friendly" surfaces on the thing to carry it round by. But there aren't. The steps have fairly sharp edges and I, wuss that I am, have to remember to wear my working gloves just to carry them round from my van to wherever I'm using them. If I know that I'm not going to be working with voltage then I just take my old ladders. So at least for me that's one star off any review. I sure don't remember glass fiber being that heavy. These ladders are even weightier than my really old wooden ones! Again; apologies for the time I've taken Now, let's get a Benylin down my neck.....
