It worked well.
So my Roomba refused to charge. It showed a very odd, repetitive pattern where the base would light up, the battery started to charge, the base would go off and Roomba stopped charging. I figured it was the battery. Bought a new one, and… nope: same thing kept happening. So it was either the base or the actual machine failing. But… a base failing? It is basically two terminals connected to a cable in a fancy box, ain’t it? Anyway, I had to try everything. So I purchased this new base, and… voilà! The Roomba started charging normally again. So humble bases do break down! Go figure! This product is legit, new, well packaged.

Finally my IRobot is back working. Looks and performs like the original base. Works great. Highly recommend.

The standard base
We had some damage to the original Roomba base that came with the vacuum, so I bought this one. It is the OM part that is identical to the one we had before, and the cleaner "did not notice" the replacement. I recommend it to anyone who needs a new base for their vacuum cleaner. Note that this is not an upgrade, the performance of your cleaner, the charging efficiency, the base detection distance will be the same as with your original base.

It does what it is supposed to
I knew my old dock had died when the Roomba 880 could never find "home." I ordered this one and that solved my problem. As a bonus, I found the 880 is recharging faster than it had been in a long time. These things must be pretty well made, because the dock was very poorly packaged for shipment, but it arrived safely and has worked well since I got it. It survived the trip from shipper to me via USPS, so I have confidence it will survive the normal wear and tear of frequent use.

Try a new charger station before you buy a new battery for your Roomba.
While the original 700 series charging deck "light" still came on, my Roomba would not charge. After 4 years, I assumed it was the battery. Ordered the "generic" lithium battery as it had better reviews than the actual Roomba (iRobot) battery. Odd, but okay. The lithium battery would not charge. I could plug in the old charger base directly into the Roomba with the generic battery and it would "light up" as though charging. It would run, but for a short time, and never charge while on the charger base. Planning to return the lithium battery, and order the iRobot battery, I noted the high praise for the more "modern" charging deck. It was lighter-weight, did not have the large power "block" adapter, etc. So, I ordered the charging station. Guess what? The generic lithium battery still did not charge when on the base and.... after putting back the "dead" original Roomba battery and using the new charging station.... my Roomba runs just fine. So, it was NOT the battery after all. It was the charging deck. Lesson learned. I may ultimately need to buy a new battery, but just got new life out of my original battery and now know NOT to order the generic "iRobot compatible" battery.
