How do you open it? I found the only way was to cut the top off and then it leaves a sharp edge which is quite dangerous. Did I miss something?

You remove the clear cap.The white cone shaped dispenser underneath has its own hole to dispense eyedrops, you use the wing shape either side of cone to pump pointing downwards until drops come out, this primes the device ready for use.I have never had to cut anything ever.I have been using for more than 5 years.
