The ultimate short sword: excellent blade, full tang, lovely grip/hilt
I can't praise this enough. Whoever designed this is most brilliant! Simply to write that this is an IMPRESSIVE short sword is insufficient. I can see no room for improvement: it's the ultimate short sword, perfect in grip, balance, edge, and point. The fit of blade to guard is perfectly tight w/ no gaps. The tang extends through the entire hilt and is visibly peened at the pommel. The feel of the grip is outstanding: the hand-tight feel of a Kabar is here increased by many times; your hand doesn't want to let go of this! Compare this hilt to that of a Roman gladius: it's remarkably similar. The blade is true Damascus, very light in weight (a characteristic of Damascus), and is finely sharpened (order this sharpened; Damascus is NOT easy to sharpen). Damascus, due to its layering of different hardness steels, has micro-serrations, a bit like the teeth of a great white shark, and will slice to a staggering effect: this will cut a hair, or paper edge on. Damascus will not flex - do not try to flex it! It can chip, and rust (different layers are more/less susceptible to rust) - hence, it absolutely MUST be kept oiled. And if you keep it in a leather sheath, visit it occasionally and apply more oil w/ a rag, wiping from the spine toward the edge and point, but leave it liberally coated. If you cut yourself on the edge, take extraordinary care to remove all blood from the blade, because it is so irregular (micro-serrated). Any small trace of blood will rust it rapidly. Rust is very difficult to remove from Damascus; some people use Naval Petroleum Jelly, and then rinse, dry, heat briefly, wipe to remove all of the NPJ; immediately re-oil. You have to frequently care for Damascus! It's virtue in the Early Middle Ages was that it is incredibly light and strong, keeping a stunningly sharp edge! This short sword is quite authentic, and is absolutely lovely: solid, graceful, and couldn't be more purposeful. The visual effect ("optics") of this weapon is very impressive: it looks Celtic or Roman. This is brilliant, in all respects. (Frankly, it is worth at least half again more than these sellers have it priced at.)And it's made in England, which adds greatly to it's appeal.I bought a second one of these: the first had been a gift; this second one was for myself. I strongly suggest that you buy one of these, before they're gone.Respectfully,

Awesome dagger for display
Very nice hand built Dagger. Sharpe enough for common use. Others comment about the handle being for large hands. I was told by a Professor of Roman Technologies the examples we have of the handle designs are missing a key element that didn't survive erosion. All soldiers would have wrapped the handle in leather or wool for a custom fit into their hands. As gloves were created, and the handle design was changed no one really recorded this common thing to do with your sword or dagger. This fits OK in the hand, but a simple wrap increases the fit. My blade was real folded steel, I dont know if they all are.

Nice blade, handle leaves a lot to be desired
Overall, I like the Poshland REG-M-22- Custom Handmade Damascus Steel- 15.1" Inches Hunting Knife. The damascus is awesomely made and looks amazing. I did find one, small, almost imperceptible area where one layer didn't quite hold (the nick is about the size of a pencil lead, if not smaller). My biggest complaint, and why I'm not giving full marks for this is with the handle. I can only assume the handle was made with wood that wasn't completely dry. There is a clear separation between the rosewood rings and metal spacers. You can actually feel the metal spacers bite into your hand when gripping the knife. I haven't quite figured out what to do about this, but some kind of filler and sanding will be required if I don't wrap it.However, the knife is still amazing, even with this flaw. The metalwork is exceptional.

Better looking then displayed
This is a great looking piece. much better looking in hand then the photos. I think this will draw some attention at my next home Renaissance festival.

Low quality but good looking knife
The dagger is pretty, but the quality is lower than expected. The wood in the handle has a rough feel and does not appear to be coated in anyway as expected based on the pictures. It feels very dry and I'm afraid if I drop it the wood will easily crack. The blade itself has a few defects in the design. But overall is a nice look. It comes with a very dull edge on it not even able to cut paper. After attempting to sharpen it, it sharpened up a little but no where near where I like my knifes to be.

Top value for awesome price!
Dagger arrived on time and in excellent condition, blade is thick and came covered with a thin layer of oil and both edges are razor sharp. This dagger is large, long (see photo with measuring tape), heavy, the grip is large and the dagger has a lot of heft; definitely not for someone with small hands. It may more rightly be categorized as a fighting dirk. I appreciate top quality; Buck is my favorite brand of knife; and all in all, I've seen crappy knives sell for 3 times the price of this dagger, so I'm very surprised that the price is as low as it is. If your looking for a dagger of this type, you won't be disappointed and you won't find a better value for the price.

Great Knife
Sent a totally different and smaller knife than what I ordered, however the knife I received will do for a gift, because I do not have ti.e to return it before the ceremony. So he gets what was delivered, I will make it work!
