Can this be used in an everday oven

It holds up under charcoal BBQ temp, so don't see why not, but, there are bespoke conventional oven gaskets available, I'd go for that

Is the idea to wrap the edge of lid with this? can anyone provide a picture of how it is installed? thanks!

Yes, stick it along the edge of the lid, not the edge of the body of the BBQ which would get scuffed and scraped with BBQ tools etc.

How easy is this to install?

Very easy. You need scissors and some degreaser like methylated spirit to clean the surface you want to stick the strip to. Cut the strip to the desired length then peel back the protective strip from the tape and stick down onto the surface where you want the tape to be. That simple. Mine's been in place now for two years with no problems.
