Changing out the shell wasn’t as hard as I thought, but there are some things to note for anyone wanting to attempt this as a fun project.1. The screen is a bit tough to center perfectly but negligible if it’s slightly off.2. Watch the whole installation video at least once beforehand, I got a bit ahead of myself and had to redo a few parts.3. I’ve seen some reviews that say the parts aren’t “flush” and don’t quite fit but this isn’t the case, you need to really tighten the screws so the parts all come together nice and tight. Before you put in screws it will look like it’s not quite fitting, and if you don’t tighten them enough they won’t be “flush”4. This is an aftermarket shell and as such there are slight differences in their measurements which means that it may not fit in protective cases made specifically for the DS lite.5. IMPORTANT** The Y screws that come with the kit are the only thing that I would say were a bit lower in quality. I’d assume this is because Nintendo has some sort of patent on them or because they’re hard to source. I HIGHLY suggest anyone doing this project keep the Y screws from their original console while shell swapping as the ones included in the kit either strip easy or seem to not catch the screwdriver at all.With that being said I’m very happy with the quality of the parts and I’m thrilled they included some extras of certain easy to lose parts like springs and screws. The only complaint that I can think of is the Y screws that come in with it I think it’d be easier if Xtremerate simply included regular screws that fit in the same locations.

Case fits well. Good quality and it includes multiple button colors to choose from. Best option when it comes to DS lite shells.

Great looking shell with good texture. Putting it together is easy following the instructional video. The only complaint is the tri-wing screws for the outer case are very cheap and likely to strip if not careful.

Quality shell - installation process can be tricky but if you know what your doing, this is a great shell to utilize

The screws that came with the unit are made of some very very soft metal, and are extremely easy to strip. I was already cautious about over tightening the screws because of other reviews (particularly for the transparent versions of this shell), and I knew to only use hand tools. Even with that, the screws are super easy to strip. Now I've got a DS lite stuck inside an otherwise great looking shell that I can't reopen to fix the finicky L button.

For the price these really aren't worth it I've put two together and they are just as big of a pain in the rear if not more so than the cheap Chinese shells. The plastic is a little better quality but it's the same issues with things not fitting together correctly, screws that are so cheap they strip out almost immediately. Fighting with one now the L trigger keeps getting stuck and the shell is the problem, these are just junk. Bonus points for including extra parts but doesn't justify the added cost of these. I really don't get the hype everyone says these are high quality but after two of these I'm ready to throw the other housings I bought in the trash.

I've seen mixed reviews of the quality of this product. I don't normally write reviews, but this shell sort of irritated me. While I'm sure some come perfect, I believe mine was slightly warped or not quite perfect. I followed the tutorial(s) exactly when swapping my shell and it just refused to accurately line up flush on some of the seams. By the time I realized it was of poor build quality it was too late. I mean I sat and made sure every wire, every piece was put in place as it should be. Still wouldn't line up right. I finished the swap even, and yet it's still not just right. I'd advise to probably not get this product but if you do just know it's a gamble on whether or not you get a good shell or not. I can tell if it's proper it looks good and is probably nice to have but when it isn't it sucks.

Lo único que hay que tener cuidado y me paso la primera vez es que cuando se quita el “marco” de la pantalla de abajo en mismo calor puede despegar el marco y la pantalla touch, si no dañas el cable plano sigue funcionando al pegarla centrada, pero hay que cuidar solo hacer fuerza en el marco pequeño de color
