Good laptop.
Good laptop. I bought the maxed out version with 64 gb of ram, a Ryzen 9, and a RTX4070Very good components and parts. After 8 months of service I have not had any issues with hardware. I had to update the bios to fix some bugs that it came in out of the box but that was not a big deal.Materials are OK. A lot of plastic. It has a very good cooling system.Don’t expect a quiet laptop while gaming with this one.It performs very well.It runs tarkov in 2k at 70fps in streets.

Good enough.
Got it cheaper than Newegg, does everything I want it to do. Kinda wish the keyboard was individually RBG instead of zone RBG. But it’s great otherwise.Minor negatives, can get a little warm, use a cooling pad if gaming.Battery life is okay when NOT gaming. HD video or gaming will kill the battery in an hour.Battery will drain faster than it charges when gaming. Take occasional little breaks if you plan on marathon gaming.

Why I have missing parts ??
I bought this laptop 8 month ago and first problem I run into when I just unpacked it. I push the power button the screen show me MSI dragon logo and nothing more 😆(laptop battery was full charged) okay this problem easily solved by update BIOS. And what are people doing when they unpacked brand new gaming laptop ?? Right I download my favorite game and start it with ultra high resolution. My laptop works lesser then minute and just switch off. I start it again and repeat, same pattern happens again and again. After 15 minutes of research I noticed then my laptop just overheated and system just shut down computer for protection. I start Google it and find a lot of reviews about gaming laptops and overheating, most of them tell me it is normal, because laptop is small and difficult to cool it fast. Next months I just use it and some times it happens again, but last month my laptop shut down twice per day even I didn’t use it “hard” and I done deeper research. A lot of people suggest changing thermo paste, cause manufacturers just saving money and use cheaper products. Before I made a decision opening my laptop a think a lot because I still have warranty and don’t wanna lose it. But my laptop going overheat each day more and more. I want to say, before u opened it seal was good. I don’t know it is manufactured seal or somebody fake it but it was on the place. When I opens back panel I was shocked 4 screws from CPU cooling system was missing. I removed cooling system and what I see was terrible. GPU and CPU dont cover of thermopaste. I cover it with paste and put it back together with 4 more screwswhich were absent. I run my laptop with high resolution games now and temperature stay good all time no more protection shutdown.I want to say to sellers and manufacturers how are doing guys ?? The product work perfect if it have all parts inside, but why I received laptop with 4 lost screws and no any trace of thermopaste covered my processor units???? Now after 8 month of using device I can start have 100% quality. Device is good with correct assembled cooling system but I give 1 star for all the problem what I have.

Good specs at a good price
[Oct 2024]We had an old laptop that died recently and wouldn't be worth repairing, so while the October Prime Days event was on I looked for something that should be somewhat 'future proof' with good specs at a price less than $1000. I picked the MSI Katana A15 AI 15.6” 144Hz FHD Gaming Laptop with the Ryzen 7-9945HS and NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4060, 32Gb RAM, and 1TB SSD.It was on sale for $879 plus tax at the time, which was a really good price for the specs. It has all the ports we need for plugging in different devices, the keyboard feels good, and the screen is bright & crisp with a 144Hz refresh rate that keeps up with the busiest action scenes in games and movies. The screen is a bit more 'letter box' shape than I'd really like, but that's the only thing I can find to whine about. It's a bit heavy compared to some, but that isn't an issue for us.It runs all our small business office and accounting software silently, without the cooling system kicking in at all. The only time it cools itself is when playing graphic intensive games, and IMHO the fan noise isn't bad at all. Most of the time it sits on a multi fan cooling pad, but even without that turned on the laptop never gets particularly hot.All in all, it was a great deal, so if it's on sale for less than $900 again, snap it up. Even at around $1050 I think it's still a worthy contender.

The Katana A15 is nice with 1 flaw...
The Katana A15 AI B8VG is a capable gaming laptop once you get past the blue screens. On set-up just keep letting it fix itself while updating BIOS, downloading the Microsoft updates, and graphics drivers. You will have to let it restart several times. It took about 25 mins but became stable once everything was up to date. A mild inconvenience but still annoying.I caught it on Amazon Day which knocked off almost a few hundred bucks making it completely worth the price tag.I use mine for gaming and business without any issues. I love the way the keys feel. The 4070 does its job well enough for the time being.- 1 star: The main drawback to this laptop in my experience is the battery life. You will only get a few hours out of it tops unless you stay in power saving mode which gives me another 2 hours. I bought another charging cord to keep at work, but the whole point of a laptop is to be mobile. So, if you can't be tethered to an outlet a couple times day, it may not be for you.Overall, it's a good mid-range gaming laptop that puts you on a bit of a leash.
