A different Perspective
This book is not much different than his first TED Talk on this topic. However, Simon has quite more examples than mentioned in his talk.I am definitely fascinated with the concept. Start with Why gives you a practical approach as to how you highlight a key point.Technically, this is how we approach problem solving too. Instead of looking at the end result, if you look at how you are approaching the solution and why you are doing it the way you are doing it, the answer is much more easier to understand.Instead of just looking at Products as Mr. Simon cities, I looked at my own career and Why I am doing What I am doing. It changed the way I look at things...A good read.

I liked mostly about the definitions
Right of the bat this book went to “why didn’t I read this earlier?” –category, which I now actually created on Goodreads now for this kind of books that resonate very deep in me.I’ve been familiar with Simon Sinek’s Ted Talks. This book dove much deeper than that, which was exactly what I was expecting. Whole book was captivating reading experience despite the fact that they were mostly running around a few certain examples of companies, and especially leaders around of those companies. From the beginning thought, I liked mostly about the definitions.“There are a few leaders who choose to inspire rather than manipulate in order to motivate people.”I dislike the word motivation, because the motives behind the action are rather unknown. Simon Sinek wonderfully described why I disliked motivation that much: because it does not tell very well the intent behind and is it for the good. Simon Sinek also managed to capture the difference between inspirational leader and someone who just manipulates action.Another thing is focus. Focus to the why and focus to what really matters.“When you compete against everyone else, no one wants to help you. But when you compete against yourself, everyone wants to help you.”This book points the way towards your why, so I recommend it with the full 5/5 stars.

A different way of looking at things..
I read about this when I was reading "Turn Around the Ship" (which by the way is a must read for anyone who is seriously interested in leadership and its sustainability). The author sure does give some very good and different insights from the normal. Though at times I do get a feeling that he is in awe of Apple little too much (nothing wrong with that either, but it does make the reader uncomfortable in accepting even the other things he says). Overall certainly recommended.

All summed up by the TED talk
Honestly it is difficult to rank this book. As first impression I would recommend to watch the TED talk that made the author known. In few minutes you get the full essence of this book and its powerful concept. The book does not add to much and it is often not sharp enough. The talk is up to the point and catch your full attention. The last sections of the book are more personal on the other hand somehow new and for me more valuable. I gave a 4 stars and surely Simon is an inspiring person, so if you need inspiration buy the book or watch on of his s speech. You will be not disappointed.

If you have ever wondered what separates good from great - here is the answer.
Starting with WHY makes a company (or an individual for that matter) look introspectively at the real reason they are going into business in the first place. Many Companies have a very clear WHY early in their life but as time goes by and other elements creep in, their Why becomes fuzzy and they start to wander aimlessly in a sea of What and How.Simon Sinek is masterful in his 'story telling.' He keeps you interested and he keeps your attention throughout his journey into the quest for starting everything we do with a clear 'WHY.'Just a side here: I first purchased the Audible version of the book (narrated by Simon himself - also great) but there are references to visual elements that an Audible version can't provide, so I bought the book after having gone through the audible version. I started reading immediately, and found it to be even more inspiring and profound the second time round! This book is a MUST for any entrepreneur or senior executive in an organisation - no matter if you are in HR, IT, Finance, Sales, Marketing or any other division, this book will guide you and those around you that report to you, with the tools to make that giant leap to first starting with WHY, before moving outward to How and finally to What – and not the other way round which is how most (failing) companies do it.I highly recommend reading (and probably re-reading) this book.

As good as everyone tells you it is
I had watched the Ted Talk, seen many interviews and had almost become blase about this book. Now, having taken the time to read it, everything in terms of praise for it is totally merited. The central tenet isn't simple to grasp at first but Sinek gently repeats and reiterates and then it clicks and like stepping through a door you're in a compelling new place. I quickly realized that perhaps only one or two companies I've worked for all have a why, in my mind it's heart, soul or a true purpose. Something that embues everything a company does from decorating its office, who it employs, how and what it pays them, through products and ads to its service model, that delicate yet powerful thread that ties everything together.Great read, inspiring, energizing though be warned you will start to question not only your why but also your employers and you may be disappointed but not in this book.
