Good Yeast, simple trick
I started using this in the winter during cold weather. The rising was just okay until I changed a few things. 1. heat up the glass bowl before you add the yeast. The warmth and lack of coldness from the glass helps in jump starting the yeast. 2. Add more than warm water, but not hot, to your mix of flour and yeast. This continues the same process. 3. To generate more heat, use a desk lamp and point it directly on the covered bowl of dough. If you do these three things you give the yeast a fighting chance and quicker rise. However, when its warmer outside and the house is no longer cool, you don't really need to do this but I would experiment.

Best yeast for making breads
I started getting into bread making, and was looking for a good yeast to get started with. Bought a jar of this, and I am very happy I did. My dough always rises nicely, and by buying it by the jar, I don't have to worry about running out of the packets, or having partial packets in the fridge if my recipe calls for odd measurements (packets of yeast usually contain about 2.25 tsp). Just be sure that you store this in the fridge, as the warmth of your kitchen will make it go bad fast. This is the only yeast I will buy from now on.

Works for me and I believe it is a bit less costly
I think this is a good deal less expensive then the packets. For my bread machine, this yeast works well in my low carb bread. The dating was over 1 1/2 years out which is fine. Once opened, in the fridge it should last 3 - 4 months and if kept in the freezer, 5 to 6 months from what I read. Just keep it tightly closed and let the yeast get to room temperature before using in a recipe. I haven't tried a lot of others to know if this is 5 star yeast or not so 4 will have to do.

Highly Recommended.
Great product! Got this to use in the "no knead" bread and it was perfect. Couldn't find it in the local grocery stores so I was glade to find it on Amazon. I will definitely buy again.

Versatile Product
Red Star works great in bread machines, and for more hands-on stuff like homemade pizza dough. As long as you don't kill it by using using water that's too hot, it's pretty much idiot proof. (During the proofing period I mean.)

Red Star Yeast, Quick Rise
Could not find yeast in my grocery stores here in Florida. So I ordered this expensive jar. Great yeast that can be used in bread making appliance as well as regular baking . Glad to have found it. Should last me quite awhile.

Produced Nice Rise and Flavor
After getting tired of having half-open packets of yeast all over my cabinets, I decided to try this product out. It has not disappointed and I wish I tried it sooner. The dark glass and tight lid keeps the yeast protected and the loaves I made had good flavor and rise.

What I wanted
During our worst of the pandemic here in NY state yeast was tough to get. You can find the small packets now but not the jars and no one had it to order for awhile. Once able to find it again I grabbed a jar to store even though I have packets as well now. If things go to crap again I want to be prepared. It’s good until 2022.
