For the price a good learning kit
This is a good teaching kit for a child that is interested about codes and passing information back and forth. It does lack the information about when cyphers were used and for what. I did gift it with a book about spies during the revolutionary war.

Smaller than expected
This came and was much smaller than expected. My daughter received it for Christmas and was excited, we will see how it holds up!

good learning for toddlers
A child interested in coding and exchanging information would benefit from this instructional package. It does not provide information on the purposes and dates of cypher usage.

Small and not simple for a young child to use.
These items are extremely small and are not high quality. The cipher disks are not perforated at the right place, so when you punch them out, the letters on the inner cipher wheel are cut off and difficult to read. The pieces are very small and will be easy to lose. I do like that it all comes in a nice tin. Chalk was broken into three tiny, nearly unusable pieces. Sticky note in picture for scale only.

Too tiny
I did not expect this tin to be so tiny. He used it but it was just so tiny .

I was trying to help the kid get into tech, this works
My nephew has been trying to learn how technology works and I've always liked code systems for teaching logic. Got this for him because it was cheap. The tin is nice, the stuff inside is kind of cheap, but you get what you pay for. That said, you don't need much to help someone figure out how to use their brain so my nephew loved it. He was writing secret messages for me in about 20 minutes.

Cute
The kit itself is a lot smaller than I had expected ,this would make it great for a stocking stuffer. I got this for my son's 11th birthday and he loves it! He was able to use it easily and made all kinds of secret messages with it.
