Tamiya Engineering need I say more?
Haven't started building this kit yet, but on a precursory look at the kit, the moulding is all that I would expect from Tamiya. I look forward to building this kit as I work through my stash. Please remember this is a model kit not a toy and as such needs assembly and painting (glue and paint are not supplied in this kit).

Brilliant model.
1:48 scale Tamiya- this model goes together like a dream!the only issue I had was with the chequered cowing decal.. i messed mine up. I'm sue there is a particular method to applying this decal.. but i just omitted it in the end ..Tamiya are the 'Rolls Royce' of kits in my opinion value for money, well cast and great detail!

Lovely kit of this classic plane!
Although I have not constructed it yet, the kit is wonderfully detailed and catches the powerful lines of the P-47 very well indeed. The kit box was well packaged, and arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Five stars all round!....Very satisfied!!!!

Applying the decals was a challenge
This was a nice kit to build but the decals, especially around the enging cowling, were a bit challenging and I needed quite a strong decal softner to get them to fit properly. If I was to build this again, and I might, I would apply the Invasion Stripes after painting the whole aircraft but before attaching the under-carriage and pylons/drop tanks. Doing them afterward was stupid of me and a lesson learnt as it was a real pain

Nice kit, but far from perfect
Builds quickly, good fit with most parts, with only the right wing joint on the underside being problematic. I found this to be the case with the Razorback version of this kit as well. Once you know about the fit issue, you can just about get round it. I also know why most people model the canopy in the open position - because closed it doesn't quite sit properly, no matter how careful you are. Next to no putty needed then and just a bit of work to remove seam lines. The biggest issue I have with this kit are the decals - several tore coming off the sheet and you need lashings of Microsol to get them to conform to the kit and I mean lashings of it! Even then, a lot of detail is sadly hidden. The chequered markings on the engine cowl worked well, but it took a lot of effort to get the decals to conform and to iron out creasing. In hindsight, I should have masked and painted the invasion stripes (also the engine cowl) and would use aftermarket decals if I built another, which I probably will and most likely super-detail it next time round, now I think I have all the flaws worked out.Overall, if the decals were OK, I'd give it four stars and am still perplexed at the minor fit issues on the underside, having now built two of these kits. Tamiya are good, but build an Eduard Profipack kit and you'll notice a distinct difference in fit and detail with the Eduard - just shame they don't do a P47 in 1/48, so for now, Tamiya is it. Hope this review helps - a good kit, but needs better decals and be careful with the wings when joining to fuselage.

Amazon have wrongly listed this...
This model is the Bubble Too, NOT the Razorback. It is actually a very decent model, just not what is listed.
