uni-ball Kuru Toga M5-450T 0.5mm Mechanical Pencil | Body Color May Vary, Pack of 1

Earlier, I had the light blue color of this and used it for about 3 years before losing it. The pencil itself feel good and is properly balanced while holding and writing. The mechanism is a sort of passive mechanism that allows for smooth handwriting. However, the pencil is prone to breaking near the connection of the grip and the epoxy part. After minor drops it develops cracks that are noticable. The metal tip is NOT retractable so that is also a worry. On my previous pencil the whole epoce part connecting to the metal part near the tip broke completely. I was able to repair it with some superglued and that fixed the problem permanently. Infact, the pencil was most durable after I used the superglue. So i recommend that you buy this pencil and expect something of this sort to happen eventually. But overall, it is excellent and the 0.5mm pencil beats the 0.7mm all day because ei have tried both.

1) For those who say the mechanism does not work, you are probably not using the pencil correctly. Lead will rotate only if you lift the pencil and press on the paper frequently. Every time you lift it rotates by 9 degrees. It is meant for frequent strokes, not continuous writing or drawing.2) Yes, the pencil is made in China (the clip says it), but the Linc sticker says Japan. But this does not change the writing quality, however plastic body is not that tough. I had bought the exact same pencil 9 years back and it was made in China, still working well. The body material close to the grip is not that sturdy, it has to be handled carefully, do not drop. It was made in Japan in 2008-2012, then production moved to China.3) Body colour sent is different, that's right. But they mention that in the description: "Body colour may vary"4) Price is ₹150, which is a little high (that's why 4 stars) for this build quality.Overall: Kuru Toga engine works as stated, build quality is moderate: handle with care. Engine mechanism will not last forever with frequent use.

it says on the packaging that it's 'made in Japan' but here on the clip if u squint a little it says 'china' now idk what it means maybe it's just manufactured in china or the one i recieved might not be genuine idk..as for the rotating mechanism, it does not rotate as frequently as i thought it would but ig it's all u get at a price like this. definitely better than your regular mechanical pencils tho! very lightweight too!
