You should never leave this peel on for hours. You should start with 5-10 minutes and you can increase the time by 5-minute increments on subsequent applications, but you should never go beyond 30 minutes.

Q: Will this work to help minimize vertical lines around the mouth, called smoker's lines (don't even smoke)?

I'm sorry but I don't know. I use it for a scar I have on foot and it works well for lightening it.

Q: If I put this over an old tattoo will it ruin it?

No. Tattoo pigments are deeper in the dermis and peels only should effect the top layers of the epidermis. (MDSpa 180)
