works great for sony e-mount 72mm lenses (18-105g)
i'm not sure if i misplaced mine, or if the 18-105G lens didn't come with the lens hood. Most sony lenses come with them, so you dont usually have to buy a lens hood for it, but since this is a very nice zoom lens for all around use and sight seeing photography it's nice to have a lens hood in certain sun conditions. So yes, this looks to be a genuine sony product in a sony box, the lens hood itself has the red marking to align easier and as with all sony lens hoods, snaps (clicks) in place knowing that it's centered perfectly. What i like about it is it works with the standard sony lens cover that comes with the lens and is reversible to hold it when not using it. Sony also makes them sort of thin which i like as it fits in my camera bag easier even though it's the biggest lens in the bag. Other 72mm flare out and are really huge. It's not super deep (length), so i'm sure it works at the 18mm setting of the lens (which is 27mm) so i guess not too wide angle. Anyways, if you have the same lens, this works perfectly.

Fits the Sony RX10 miv
I recently lost my rx 10 iv sunshade in Machu Pichu. It must have struck a stone as I sat to rest out of breath. Searching multiple sites and online chats proved confusing. There is no Sony specific replacement shade available and while some said this wouldn’t fit others who tried it reported that it worked with the caveat that it could cause vignetting at the widest setting. I can only say that it fits perfectly, though I haven’t checked the vignetting issue yet which is only a possible problem at max wide angle focal length.

Perfect replacement
My original lens hood somehow became cross threaded and would no longer fit. No local shop had them nor were they willing to order without significant cost. This is the fix.
