So pretty, and easy to install
This product transformed my tiny 1954 retro (outdated) kitchen from boring to beautiful and I'm so happy with the results! Honestly, I didn't know what to expect of the 12 inch square shell sheets in person, but they're so pretty! They're beautiful, natural shells with just the right amount of lustre and they arrived individually wrapped, allowing for protected shipping - I was very pleased about that aspect. It's super easy to cut along the natural break of the shell tile, which made installation easier than I expected - I used a box cutter to make precise cuts along natural breaks, but scissors also work (just not for cutting the actual shells if needed). Beware, though, that the sheets STICK immediately when placed on the wall, so be sure you have your measurements perfect. A tip I recommend is peeling just a bit of the sheet backing when first applying to the wall, and then pulling the remainder of the backing as you press the sheets into place - this way if you need to adjust the sheet when first applying, you only have a small amount to peel from the wall. My first sheet went on without a problem, but when applying the second sheet, I should have taken it a bit more slowly and I ended up needing to pull it from the wall because I didn't have it placed perfectly. Yikes! I had to pry it with a screwdriver and ended up with lots of shell squares rather than the whole sheet coming off. I quickly decided to use the peel, press, and pull technique for the remaining 10 sheets and that made the process so much easier. I'm so happy with the results of this DIY project! Highly recommend for an update to blah walls.

Beautiful Mother of Pearl Tile!
LOVE IT!! A beautiful, subtle color mother of pearl tile. Looks luxurious and high-end with just the right amount of color and luster. This peel and stick is so much easier to install than traditional trowel-adhesive tile and grout. The 1/2" square pieces make it easy to fill in around edges. Was able to cut tile pieces with wire cutter pliers and used a razor blade to cut tile sheets. Dry fitted tiles first to match the best edges for least gap between tiles. Used white caulk to fill any noticeable gaps; grouting wasn't needed. A very strong stick so make sure the tile is where you want it before you press to wall. Photos before and after. Really glad I tried it. Just what my boring kitchen needed.

Pretty
Adhesion is good. Be sure to only peel off half the paper backing when placing the square because it will stick immediately. Then slowly peel off the other half of the backing as you press on the tile. I was able to cut through the shell squares when necessary using sharp pliers, but it was a time consuming and tedious task. The good news is, even if you have small placement mistakes, the coloring and texture of the shells hides the imperfections. I love the look in my powder room. Yes, I placed this tile in all 3 wall niches.

Beautiful!
These are so easy to install, the adhesive is very sticky and stays in place. No need to match anything up due to the pattern. My daughter is an interior designer/architect, and she recently used mother of pearl tiles in a home remodel. She recommended these for my kitchen and I couldn’t be happier!

Several flaws to this beautiful product
As other reviewers have noted, this product gives an instant “WOW’ factor to a space. I purchased it to use as a bathroom vanity backsplash, since the vanity/countertop/sink I ordered from Lowe’s did not have a backsplash. This product states on the Amazon site that it is “water resistant.” By digging further into the manufacturer through Amazon’s site one can learn that the Diflart company also makes “waterproof “ tiles for use in the shower. I am still installing this shell product and don’t yet know how water resistant to hand washing splashes it might be, but I’m hopeful since it is a shell product.Perhaps I was naively hopeful when reading this product’s description. I read it as 12” sheets. The sheets are actually slightly smaller (roughly 11.85” square) which makes measurements a bit more complicated. I had hoped to simply cut each sheet in half to get 6” high strips for my backsplash. Since each square is slightly less than 1” I have ended up with strips of around 6.25” and 5.75”. This creates a situation of having to piece together in spaces, rather than having more uniform sheets.I am a perfectionist, and when viewing other customers finished pictures of this product I noted that some customers had been “sloppy” and not gotten the adjoining sheets butted tightly together so no seam would show. I now know that it was not the customer’s errors. I am using this product on walls with an orange peel texture. I have used an electric palm sander to smooth down the orange peel texture and, as the website suggests for less than smooth surfaces, I am using Gorilla spray in addition to the product backing to ensure a good adhesion. I am also using other customers technique of peeling a bit of the backing paper off at a time in order to be able to position the sheets more exactly. Each individual shell tile on the sheets is of a slightly different thickness and is mounted onto a foam backing, ensuring that the shells will not move out of their individual positions. Beside the stickiness of the adhesive there is also the amount of pressure each shell tile can withstand to consider when placing each sheet. One of the tiles actually broke while I was pressing the sheet to the wall, but with my Gorilla spray I was able to put it back together. And since the shells are a natural product they are not EXACTLY the same size. Almost but not exactly. So some shells butt together more tightly at seams than others. Finally, several reviewers suggested having white caulk handy. I absolutely agree!! Not only does the caulk create a more waterproof finished seam edge, it also, when used lightly, does a GREAT job of filling in the gaps between the seams of adjoining sheets of tiles.UPDATE: This bathroom is not a high traffic bathroom in my home. Even though it has only been a few weeks since I submitted my rather negative sounding review here I am glad that I bought this product. It really is pretty and when used with lots of caulk to fill in seam gaps and tops and bottom edges I think that it will be a waterproof enough backsplash for me.

Beautiful look
Unconventional use - i needed an accent across the top of my fireplace. This is even better than I hoped. Its rich looking & well made (not thin or flimsy). Im very happy with it.
