Finally Got Rid of the Mr. Coffee Tea Maker!
Hi, my name is "Jon" and I'm a Teaholic. I drink iced tea almost exclusively and, for the past 30 years, or so, have been using a Mr. Coffee Iced Tea maker. Not the same one, of course, but have purchased multiple over the years. It worked fine for iced tea, but I've been on a mission to get rid of all plastics as far as heating and storing food. This 1 gallon tea/coffee maker is a perfect replacement. It makes and holds a full quart more than the 3 qt. iced tea makers, doesn't stain so it's easy to clean, and the spigot makes it ultra convenient to dispense without having to take it out of the fridge.I get very hot water right from the tap and have no problems adding that right to the glass pitcher BUT I'm very careful not to do this while the pitcher is cold to avoid cracking the glass. If the pitcher is still cold from the fridge, I simply fill it with some luke-warm water and swirl it around to help bring up the temperature of the glass before refilling with hot water.Next, the cap/top needs to be a little loose to allow airflow into the container or the coffee/tea will not flow correctly from the spigot. It's a little on the pricey side when you consider it's just a large mason jar with a filter and spigot, but it's ideal if you like cold brew and/or drink a lot of iced coffee or tea.

Amazing product
The Zulay 1 Gallon Cold Brew Coffee Maker has completely transformed my coffee routine! If you’re a cold brew enthusiast like me, this is an absolute game-changer.Design & Build Quality:The design is sleek and functional. The glass carafe is sturdy, and the stainless steel filter feels durable and well-made. The lid keeps the coffee fresh for days, so I can brew a large batch and enjoy it throughout the week.Ease of Use:This cold brew maker is incredibly easy to use. Just add your coffee grounds to the filter, fill the carafe with water, and let it steep. The filter is fine enough that few grounds escape into the coffee, resulting in a smooth, grit-free brew every time. Cleanup is also a breeze—the filter and carafe are both easy to rinse out and dishwasher-safe.Coffee Quality:The quality of the cold brew this maker produces is outstanding. The coffee is rich, smooth, and less acidic than traditional brewing methods. It’s perfect for enjoying over ice, and I can customize the strength by adjusting the amount of coffee I use. Whether I’m in the mood for a strong brew or something milder, this maker delivers consistently delicious results.Capacity:The 1-gallon capacity is perfect for me. It’s large enough to make a big batch that lasts for several days, so I’m not constantly brewing. It’s also great for entertaining or if you have multiple coffee drinkers in the house.Value for Money:Considering the quality, ease of use, and the amount of cold brew it makes, the Zulay Cold Brew Coffee Maker is an excellent value. It’s much more economical than buying cold brew at a café, and it tastes just as good—if not better!Final Thoughts:If you love cold brew coffee, the Zulay 1 Gallon Cold Brew Coffee Maker is a must-have. It’s easy to use, produces amazing coffee, and is built to last. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase and highly recommend it to anyone looking to elevate their coffee game. Five stars all the way!

Nice idea, but needs improvements
I've been looking for a tea container for my fridge for a long time that had these features:* a spigot dispenser (so I can dispense right from the fridge)* large size (at least a gallon)* made of glass (I try to avoid plastic for food storage)* rectangular shape for better space utilizationThis met all my requirements, so I bought it. I've only used it once so far and it seems fine, but I have a few design criticisms:* The lid is crap -- it's very light weight (so easily bent), and the threads aren't deep enough to correctly guide the screwing action as you try to put on the lid -- so it's a pain to put the lid on.* Though it would be less stable, I'd prefer a design where the jug was deeper (front-to-back) and thinner (side-to-side) -- in this way it would stretch further back on the shelf of the fridge, and take up less premium horizontal real-estate at the front part of the fridge shelf. (It's hard to get at stuff behind the dispenser, so let the dispenser stretch all the way to the back of the shelf!)* I don't like how the spigot installs to the jug: it goes together like this:1. First put a decorative front-facing metal washer onto the threaded spigot pipe;2. then a tapered rubber gasget;3. then you place the spigot pipe through the jug;4. then add another rubber gasket from inside the jug;5. then another decorative metal washer; and finally6. a metal nut to compress it altogether.I'm skeptical of any metal-on-metal surface forming a good seal, so for now I've left off the outer metal washer. (I.e., I skipped step 1 above.) The main design problem I see with this assembly is that those rubber gaskets (while probably effective at stopping leaks across the compressed surface) are probably not doing a good job of stopping liquid from flowing along the helical path formed by the thread under the inner gasket ring. So assuming liquid can get past the inner nut and metal washer, it would slowly flow under the rubber gaskets through the helical tunnel formed by the thread all the way to where threaded pipe joins with the spigot body -- this is why I thought it important to leave off that outer metal washer. All that said, the thing does not appear to be leaking. Also, if it did start leaking through the thread, I'm sure I could pack the thread with Vaseline (people put that on their lips so probably safe?) to stop the leak.So for now I give it 4 stars, but if it starts leaking any time soon I'll be back to knock off a star.
