Now this item was awesome! The stock spool holder for the Ender 3 was static and caused undue tension on the filament, often leading to breaks. This double ball bearing equipped axle barely represents any friction at all. Best of all, the interface is exactly the same as the stock one...no need to unbolt the metal hardware for it. Just swap it out.

Great filament holder. I actually installed this on my Artillery 3d printer and I love it! So much easier loading the filament onto this. Spins more smoothly than what originally came on my printer. No more lines in my print from tugging on the spools.

Good upgrade only after oiling the bearings. I couldnt get it to spin with my spool before doing that. I also added a layer of painters tape, that allowed it to grip my cardboard spool better. Now works flawlessly

Have never had prints fail due to filament getting so loose it lapped over itself and got locked onto the spool. The first three prints using this roller each failed hours into the print when the slack loops of filament tightened over each other and cinched up on the spool. Reverting to the original Ender 3 hanger with the fixed tube eliminated the problem. Going to set this bearing tube aside until I can make an idler arm or some other extruder changes to keep the spool layers tight enough to not trap themselves.

This doesn't allow the spool to spin so freely that the filament unravels from the spool. It does however provide the perfect amount of give when printing with TPU so that a full 2.2 lb spool isn't grinding on the spool holder and causing the TPU filament to stretch and possibly slip in the extruder.I was getting random mysterious gaps, maybe not so mysterious, in my TPU printe when using a full new spool. This problem disappeared if I was using let's say a 1 lb spool versus a 2.2 lb spool or less.I thought I'd give this a try and I've already done several prints that I had troubles with before. Starting with a brand new full and heavy spool, both prints turned out perfect. It's hard for me to get a good photograph that shows what I'm talking about but if you're thinking of buying one of these and trying it out. Go for it! If it doesn't solve your problem, I suppose you could always return it.I was expecting something fairly flimsy for the price but this is sturdier than the OEM spool holder but it comes with bearings that remove a lot of the friction.
