Full surrender - Full reward
This is perhaps the most unusual biography you will ever read. It is also the most faithful example of what the Apostle Paul referred to when he said, "Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do..." Eph 5:1. Amy Carmichael would be considered extreme by most readers. That's because we have lowered our standards so far below what Christ taught. Read this book prayerfully. It may change your whole life.

"A Chance to die is a life story of Amy Carmichael.
I love the Author. She had been inspired by the life of Amy, who at a very young age followed God to India , where she became a mother to children She rescued from moral danger, orphaned. Unwanted and sold to the temple. She spent 53 years without a furlough. Her life of obedience and courageous service and love stands as a model to us all who love the Lord Jesus.

Death has new meaning
I feel unworthy to have even read about this woman and I only did because I read about Ms Elliot and it’s impossible not to hear of Ms Carmichael and her influence. I’m certain she is an angel in heaven and what a testimony to see what G-d is capable of with such faith. I am still in awe of His work in the most humble servants.

Love this.
I love this book, this story. I wish Ms Elliot would have done more with dates, but that's probably due to my need to see things in their linear form to feel that I'm in the story. Wonderful book--I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to renew their zeal for holiness and good works.

Fantastic Book about an amazing woman
You can see through Elisabeth’s writing how much she admired Amy and how much thought and research she put into compiling this biography. I appreciated that she didn’t shy away from sharing Amy’s shortcomings and her struggles. It is a wonderful reminder that Amy wasn’t perfect, none of us are. I thoroughly enjoyed this biography.

Amazing life of sacrifice by Amy Carmichael- Challenges me to sacrifice more and lean not on our American conforts as much.
Well written by Elisabeth Elliot, a wonderful Christian who knows about sacrifice in her own life as her husband was killed on the mission field. The book describes Carmichael's life of unbelievable and absolute commitment to Christ. She never makes a decision but that it is vetted by the Scriptures and the life of Christ. She had valid opinions about many matters such as 'Always to; never about' when trying to solve problems with another person. This unwavering commitment to Christ was instrumental in saving thousands of young children from the temple sex trade. I don't want to spoil any specific details, but at the end of her life a challenge occurs that would have me (arrogantly) unhappy; however, Amy Carmichael's response is grace and love for her Savior based on her underlying strong belief that if Christ suffered for her, why shouldn't she suffer for Him. A new perspective for me, a spoiled American. Thank you Elisabeth Elliot for bringing Carmichael's life to the forefront.
