I would advise you to always remove the grid between uses. Although the grid is made of hard plastic, leaving it in the hot wax to cool then be reheated again, will eventually deteriorate it. If you don't remove it, the grid will solidify in the cold wax. After my hand therapy I remove the grid & allow the excess wax to drip back in the container. I lay the grid to cool on a sheet of wax paper or parchment paper. It lifts off easily. Don't use any type of fabric as the wax will not come off once it cools- (learned my lesson the hard way!)
