It goes on as a creamy matte beige. Not at all dark! The company does make a color called tenacious teal, so maybe the photo is of a container of it. If you have a light to medium complexion and are looking for a smooth beige look for your lid, I think you will be very happy with this product. It stays on all day, and doesn't go into the crease!
