Heli-Coil Helicoil 5528-4 0.25-28 Inch Fine Thread Repair Kit

These helicoil kits are great, especially for power equiptment with aluminum blocks. The threads tend to strip out easily, especially at the mufflers, and these kits save the day. Drill out the damaged threads with the specified drill bit. Retap the hole with the supplied tap, and insert the helicoil with the supplied tool, and you are set, good as new.

This kit did allow me to fix the broken off zerk fitting In my dump trailer equalizer blot . But the tap is a little soft . It was already starting to round the cutting edges on the tap only after two uses . And the treads it did cut didn’t look that great . But it did work. Probably will replace the tap with a better one .

I bought this kit to repair 1/4" FINE threads on an old sports car. It worked perfectly. Will use Helicoils to make some other repairs too. Saved me a lot of disassembly.

The only thing that doesn't come with the kit is the drill bit required to open the stripped hole to begin the insert process. Everything else is there.
