It survived!
Occasionally I lug my keyboard someplace and wish I had a decent music stand. So I finally bought this portable stand - because it's portable.I've had it set up at home, and have been grateful for it. It's not as sturdy as the heavy stands we used to have in high school band, and it can't hold a 3" binder full of music. But that's ok. I don't really need 3" of music all at once. It's portable. Very lightweight, very easy to set up.I am concerned that careless handling could break the plastic part of the stand. I'm pretty sure it could. But careful handling should be just fine for a long time.I recently took my stand to a week-long event, and it was used by multiple people. It made me a bit nervous, because not everyone tends to treat other people's property with respect and care. When I saw a "stage helper" having trouble getting the stand to stay at the right height, I was concerned. When I saw how he'd turned the clamp in order to get the stand to stay, I was even more concerned. Had it been broken? Was I "out" a nice, portable music stand? I was so relieved when I looked closely to see that there was a loose screw. Sure enough, when I got home, I tightened it and all was well.Overall, it's pretty sturdy. The bottom part is substantial and well weighted. The music rack on the stand is the only part that's not - but that's because of its beauty, the way it folds down. A little TLC should keep this stand working for a long, long time!

Best value stand
The Gleam boom microphone is a great product, especially for the price. It's sturdy enough with a little care but adding a little weight and length to the base legs would make it perfect, although for most the additional cost would likely not be warranted. The extension capability is well designed, for the stand and for the boom. The bag is just right--just by adjusting all the extensions to minimum length it collapses down so that it all fits just right into the bag without removing anything, not even the mic clip. Other stands, e.g., OnStage, may extend to a greater height (then they become more prone to tipping) but the height capability of the Gleam stand is just right for me, and easier to carry around and store away.

Easy to pack around and use. Short life span.
I keep buying this product because it's easy to pack around and I am a traveling musician. I use the stand 3-5 times a week and it fits nicely in my truck. But, I have bought 3 over the last three years. When something strips or it loses a bolt (and they do), I Frankenstein the stand with parts from others if I can. I like the stand. Wish it would last longer. Inexpensive enough to replace once a year.

Better than most no-name brands but not that good
This is a perfectly serviceable mic stand but don't expect it not to tip over if you extend the boom arm out with a microphone in it. If you're able to balance it with the boom arm out you'll have to be sure the arm is aligned with one of the 3 legs otherwise it absolutely will tip over and even then you have to take great care not to bump it or it will tip over.Microphone stands are expensive for a reason. It's because they're supposed to be made so that they don't fall over and let you expensive microphones bust on the ground. These work and I'm not using them in a professional setting so I let it slide but I wouldn't choose these if I could afford a brand name.

Great value
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this stand. Granted it is not heavy-duty and may not hold up under a lot of rough conditions but it is a very decent mic stand for the money. I’ll be using it as a boom mic but also for a straight stand as it will work both ways. It’s very adjustable and serves the purpose.
