Superb performance
I'm using this to connect a Razer Blade 2019 Advanced laptop to my 10GbE network via the Thunderbolt port and it works perfectly. I've had no problems maxing out the 10GbE network connection using a 10Gtek 10Gbase-SR SFP+ transceiver in this QNAP QNA-T310G1S adapter and connecting it to a Mikrotik CRS309 10GbE switch. The packaging and product are really well made and screams quality. The QNAP QNA-T310G1S adapter is quite large compared to an SFP+ module and it also has some weight to it too.I downloaded the Marvell AQtion AQC107 drivers, which are required for the adapter, before installing the device and I had no problems getting it to work.It does run quite warm (but not hot) and I suspect the aluminium chassis is used as a heat sink. I'm not sure on battery drain on a laptop because I only use this adapter when the laptop is connected to the mains. There's not may 10GbE options for laptops at the moment but based on my experience I highly recommend this one.Pros:- Full 10GbE speeds over Thunderbolt- Compatible with 3rd party SFP+ transceivers (I'm using 10GTek)- Decent build quality and packaging- Easy installationCons:- Does run quite warm (but not hot)

Works well with 2018 MacBook Pro and macOS Catalina!
I've been using this for nearly a year now with a 2018 MBP and macOS Mojave and Catalina. Works reliably out of the box (no extra drivers required) and pushes 10G with minimal fuss - using a fs.com 10GBASE-SR SFP+ and OM3 multimode fibre to a 10G switch.

Works with Ubuntu Linux
For 16.04 or 18.04, the device needs to be authorised. The divers are already in the kernel. You can do this through GNOME or the command line:$sudo apt-get install -y bolt$boltctl listCopy the UUID to the copy buffer.$sudo boltctl enroll <UUID>Where <UUID> is the number obtained from the "boltctl list" command.
