Q: Are there any plastic components inside the kettle?

I just received this Kettle 11/28/21 and it has the plastic cover on the tube inside. A few reviewers mentioned theirs had a new metal cover though. How can I get the new metal cover? There is no contact info listed here.

The grade of the stainless steel in this Gooseneck Kettle is Food Grade 304 18/10.

Q: I accidentally removed the plastic piece as the manual didn’t say anything about it so I assumed it was part of the packaging. What is it’s purpose?

The plastic piece covers the steam pipe so you don't accidentally pour water down the pipe when you fill the kettle up. It's helpful but not necessary. My refurbished kettle came without the plastic piece (probably because someone took it off by accident and returned it) and it works fine. I just have to be slightly careful when I fill.
