These had the level of heat I wanted and look nice in dishes. You can use them as is for standard heat, or if you're timid-tongued, you can easily split them and the seeds will all fall out with one shake. I've used them to make a tadka and a few different dishes calling for this type of chili. These are good if you like flavor more than heat, but still want to have some tingle in your mouth. I also like that these have an even kind of heat. It doesn't "climb" as you eat more, like some peppers do.

Authentic Kashmiri Chili. Not fake. I can vouch for it. Soak in warm water or vinegar. Gets the best tasting curries. They are mildly spicy and have some heat to them. Not like bell peppers. When you use this chili its better not to add too many other spices. Keep it simple and less ingredients and this chili will shine. I would buy 5 bags if the price was little low. I am still giving it a 5 star because price should not be a factor for a review. We knew about it before purchasing.

I absolutely love the color and medium heat these Kashmiri Red Chillies adds to my food. The fact that they are sun dried, just the way our grand parents back in the day did for the spices we used at home, is validated by their crinkled exterior, color and aroma. I love these chillies and I would recommend anyone who wants organic, home grown like and dried spices to get these (along with cinnamon, pepper and cardamom that j have also ordered from Spice Fix). These pepper are very good quality and they smell almost sweet, but still with the right amount a heat. I am very very happy with the peppers because I read on the web that some people is selling fake kashmiri peppers, but according to what I know about kashmiri peppers, these peppers are the real thing. I typically get my chilis from the local grocery store - and I've tried the ones from the suppermarket (hispanic section) as well as from a range of different brands from the indian grocery stores around here. I've even tried the local asian supermarket (hMart). This is the first time I've tried to get them from Amazon, and I'm glad I did! These are great - lots of spice and flavor and none of the "added" flavors you get from the store stuff (Which I assume has some other preservatives or something.)Needless to say, I'll be buying these from now on.
