Finally! A Decent Case!
I recently acquired a fine tiny laptop for myself (it’s a Dell Inspiron 3147, and is a little over 11.75" by a little under 8" and ¾" thick) and needed a new case to fit it. My criteria for a good case were simple enough: it had to fit reasonably well (not too tight or loose), it had to have adequate padding, and it needed an extra pocket to fit a charging cable, small travel mouse, and an external dvd player. That’s all I wanted, and I didn’t realize at the time how hard it would be to find a case matching these simple requirements. I looked all over in both physical stores and online before finally finding this Targus-branded laptop case.My laptop fits beautifully into this case – it’s just snug enough without being too tight. If you have a larger laptop than mine, though, I daresay it would not fit, so keep that in mind. As for padding, it isn’t the absolute best padding ever, but it is reasonable enough to keep the laptop safe. I wouldn’t swing it around and smack people with it, but…you know what I mean. I don’t know if it’d survive a fall onto its side (a good hit to the corner would crack the laptop, probably) if you dropped it, but if you’re gentle with it, it can survive being set down on its edge regularly (although it isn’t really capable of standing up on its side like a briefcase) and will protect it from your average bumps and jostles. I do wish it was a bit stronger in the padding, but honestly if you’re careful with it, it should be okay. Lastly, despite being rather slim and svelte, it was able to hold all my required items. There is an interior pocket divider in the big pocket, and the divider is really well padded – this means it protects the laptop from getting scuffed/scratched by whatever you happen to be storing in the other pockets, so this is quite the good feature. There is also a second, very thin fabric divider to, so technically, that's three sections in the larger pocket. I put my dvd player and it’s usb cable into the other compartment (one remains empty), while my laptop stays in the most heavily padded compartment (there's a nifty velcro strap to help keep the laptop in place). On the outside of the bag, there's a smaller pocket that is just big enough to hold my charging cable and mouse (there’s even some nice tiny pockets in here, too, along with pen holders. I use one of the tiny pockets to hold my mouse). I suppose I should also mention that this comes with a shoulder strap (I don't really use mine though, and leave it off) and some nice carrying handles. Lastly, this wasn’t on my requirement list, but I did want something that seemed to be well-made and durable, and this case fits the bill.I’m super glad I finally managed to find a decent laptop bag for my needs, and I really think Targus struck a good balance here between functionality, size, slimness, weight and durability. I do wish it were a bit more padded, but I'm sure that would've added a lot more bulk to the case, so I see why they didn't do it. I’m overall satisfied, so I can definitely recommend it if you have a tiny laptop of the right size!

I love this case - fits my iPad perfectly.
I like everything about this case. The size is perfect to fit my iPad Air along with any cables I need to have with me and cushioned well for protection. Plus there's enough room to add a notebook if I need it or a few other items. I also like the inclusion of a shoulder strap so I can choose what works best in difference circumstances. It looks nice and seem very sturdy (although I haven't had it long enough to really know). I think this would also work well for a small laptop. Not too big, not too small.

Very nice bag for the Microsoft Surface Pro 3
I bought both this, and the Amazon Basics 11.6-Inch Laptop and Tablet Bag at the same time (http://amzn.com/B00DUGZFA6), because I wanted to test them both for my Microsoft Surface Pro 3. Both bags were very nice, and it was a tough decision. I ended up keeping the Amazon bag and sending the Targus back, but only because the Amazon got 5 stars. I think you will still be happy with the Targus, especially in some circumstances. Read on. (I have posted the same review for both items.)Here are the reasons I liked the Amazon bag.- Fit my Microsoft Surface Pro 3 perfectly. The Targus is slightly bigger, so the Pro fits in there nicely as well, but I was going for the smallest fit possible that still held my desired items.- Better made than the Targus. Nice shoulder strap, and the zippers are solid metal and zip/unzip very smooth. The Targus felt cheaper, though it is more expensive.- Strap on the back that allows you to slide it over the handles of a rolling overhead luggage bag. (The Targus listing, as well as the instructions that came with the Targus claims it has this feature as well, but inexplicably, the bag I received does *not* have these straps.)- The Amazon bag is half the price as the Targus bag. Now, regarding fit. I won't say that the Amazon bag is a tight fit, because everything I need fits into it perfectly. But if you have a large amount of extra travel items, this may not work for you. I will list the items that I have fit into the Amazon bag comfortably:Main pocket:- Surface Pro 3- Small writing notebook- Kindle paperwhiteBig side pocket:- HDMI adapter- Two pens (include the touch pen)- Stack of business cards- Flash drive- USB adapter for multiple USB ports- Small battery backup for my poneSmall side pocket:- Surface power cordIt seems like a lot, but most of those items are pretty small, so take that into consideration. For instance, I probably wouldn't be able to get my USB mouse into the bag easily. It is the small side pocket where I place the power cord that is the tightest fit. I can't just shove the power cord into the pocket, I have to wrap up the cable nicely and then slide it into the pocket. The pocket pushes into the bigger side pocket, so takes up space in there as well. So, if you are worried about space, take this into consideration. If this is you, I would strongly recommend the Targus bag. Even though I sent it back, I would have been happy with that one as well. The way the side pocket of the Targus is designed, you could fit significantly more into the side pocket than you can with the Amazon bag, at only slightly more bulk overall. If you have a Surface Pro 3, I think you will be happy with either bag. But for me, the Amazon bag gets 5 stars, the Targus 4.

FINALLY!!!
Over the past 6 months I have purchased 8 small/medium backpacks to carry my 13” MacBook Pro and 11” iPad Pro to, from and around the university where I teach. Today I received my new Targus backpack, and now my search for the perfect EDC bag is finally over! Not too small with many pockets, it is a comfortable carry even with the two devices onboard. Lower back problems prevents me from carrying a more hefty pack, so this is a welcome remedy…and didn’t cost a ton!

Simple Inexpensive iPad Case
I needed a simple, inexpensive, and reasonably rugged shoulder bag for an iPad and related charger. This case is working well.
