Incredible book. Very dark and kinky. If you only like vanilla or no sex at all this book isn't for you. There was mutual consent, with a little help from mental manipulation. The BDSM is graphic - which is fine with me. Kara and Devin are strong characters and their interaction is terrific. She was sassy and Devin had his ways of dealing with that. I enjoyed this story very much and am looking forward to another story by this author. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an review.

I really enjoyed reading this dangerously good book! There were lots of twists and turns, mafia dealings, danger lurking in every corner, all of the erotic BDSM elements (pet play, punishments, “toys”, etc.) - Kara and Devin have their hands full! All the above taking place while Devin is trying to protect Kara from her brothers’ dealings and bad life choices. Devin and Kara are perfect for each other. Even though it takes some time for them to each realize that! The only bad thing about this book – it was too short!!

I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book. Very kinky. Amazing pet play. Definitely not for you vanilla people just dipping your toes into the water. This is an absolutely incredible book. I almost want to ask my partner to read it and take notes!!! No rape however definitely mental manipulation that leads to consent. Lovely charismatic yet ‘asshole-ish’ master/sir character (Devin). ACTUALLY RELATIVELY REALISTIC!! I have this HUGE pet-peeve for unrealistic kidnap/Stockholm syndrome books. THIS book was realistic. Kara is a thought out character, despite us only getting to see a few sides of her. If I had a complaint, it would be that I wanted Kara to be more well-rounded, but when your kidnapped, locked in a cage, and just after dealing with trauma related to your mysterious and dead brother… well, I guess there isn’t a whole lot going on inside you besides those things. This is definitely my favorite BDSM/Dark Erotica book thus far. I will be rereading this book multiple times before I find a new favorite. 10/5 stars for sure.

I'm going to give this one 2.5 stars because I think the potential was there, but the plot had a lot of issues and needed some editing and refinement. It was pretty surface level and the complete lack of consent, conversation, and relationship building was a pretty big feel flag for me in terms of the writing choices. There were times that I enjoyed the story and the characters, but it was overshadowed by the lack of choice for the FMC and the lack of her being able to consent from the very beginning. I think there were also some plot hole items and some choices that made no sense for the characters.

This was my first read of Ms. Stone's work and I enjoyed it very much - enough so that I plan to read the rest of her books. The BDSM is graphic - which I like. The story is tight and well written. Kara and Devin are strong, well fleshed out characters and their interaction is terrific. I loved her sass at the beginning of their "relationship" and how he dealt with it. The ending was very satisfying. HAVE TO GET THIS OFF MY CHEST: I'm not giving away any of the plot in this review because I loathe reviewers who do so -- just give your opinion, don't give a complete summary of the book! I avoid 2-3-4 page reviews at all costs! Editing: 4.0 stars ... there were a few issues but not bad enough to pull the reader out of the story, which is unfortunately common in this genre.

I really didn't have high hopes for this book after Reding the reviews but, turns out much better than I expected. The reviews I came across did not do this book any justice. There are a few editing issues but, theory are easy enough to get around. Kara is a strong, lonely young woman who only has one person in her life, her brother Tommy but, when Tommy is tortured and murdered Kara is left alone in the world. Devin,worked with Tommy in the criminal under belly of the world. Devin kidnapped Kara, who would miss her, nobody. He took her to his remodeled farmhouse....what Kara didn't know is Devin is a sadist looking to give her exactly what she wanted! Devin knew what Kara wanted because he had done his homework, learning everything hr could about her. Once the "play" started Kara was ashamed, embarrassed and humiliated...once she let's herself accept and stop the self shaming she very much liked his disciplinarian and dominate side. I can't say much more or I will give it all away. What I will say is it is a good book, worth reading. The drama is excellent, the sex is HOT. I recommend it, enjoy.

What a great story of Pet submission. Not once does it make you feel like it’s wrong, it was very tastefully written. When Kara is kidnapped by Devin, she doesn’t know the real reason why, but for some reason she is attracted to her kidnapper and that makes her feel uncomfortable. But Devin shows her the way of submission because he knew in his heart, that is what her true nature is, even though she fights him every step of the way. But he doesn’t tell her that she could be in danger, and will protect her at all costs. These two characters are perfect for each other even though their relationship doesn’t start out in the normal way. But can they stay together? Will Devin have to let her go? I truly enjoyed this story, and so will you!

Devin is protecting Kara from her brothers killers. While protecting her life he disciplines her and trains her in submission. With many twists and turns in this story. It is a well written erotic BDSM with danger chemistry with tons of steamy scenes!!!!!!!!! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a great book. The story telling was excellent, you really feel like your going through the journey with the 2 main characters. Kara knows her brother does bad things for a living but she stays out of it and doesn't want to know exactly what he does. Then he gets murdered and leaves something for her in a p.o box. Then along come Devin who worked with her brother and he wants what her brother left her. So this is the story of him kidnapping her for her protection and to find out about the p.o box. There is a twist at the end which I kind of already figured out but it does keep you guessing. This book wouldn't be to everyone's taste as Devin is quite harsh with Kara, treating her like his pet with some scenes of humiliation. But deep down he has tapped in to a part of Kara that she has tried to keep hidden and Kara was one feisty lady. Would definitely recommend 👍

In het begin is het verhaal erg heftig vooral wat de hoofdpersoon overkomt. Beetje onrealistisch allemaal. Maar langzaam krijgt het verhaal diepgang en ontstaat er een relatie tussen de twee hoofdpersonen Devon en Kara en begrijp je het verhaal beter. Ik vind het wel een aanrader.

I liked this book a lot as this genre of story is one I enjoy. Kidnapped and trained to behave - feisty Kara's world turns upside down in the weeks after her brothers murder as a stranger invades her home looking for secrets his death has left behind. Kara goes on an unwilling journey only to discover deep secrets about herself. Although this story was predicable, I enjoyed the spirit Kara injected into the building relationship with her captor. Hot and sexy scenes, pet play and non consensual bdsm was right up my alley. I will be looking at what else this author has written.
