Numerous inaccuracies
The book should have been proof read before it was printed. The number of coals required for the top and bottom of the oven is reversed in the temperature conversion chart (page 31). In addition, each of the three recipes I chose to try had at least one inaccuracy. One said the volume equivalent of 1oz. of goat cheese is 1 1/2 cups. Another called for so much liquid that the dough became a batter and the result became corn bread rather than cornmeal biscuits; it also called for 20-25 minutes baking time in step 3 and 15 minutes in step 4. The third called for so much liquid the the chili would have had the consistency of soup had I added it all. That being said, the dishes tasted good; I appreciate the simple approach to camp cooking; and there are still ideas I want to explore, but with a little skepticism.

No duds (yet, at least)
As a novice Dutch oven chef, I found the intro sections very useful (how many coals for a given temperature, how to season, even a suggested camping menu). More importantly, though, the recipes are easy to follow and prepare, and the food turns out great. I've cooked my way through many (but not all) of them and have yet to find a dud. Depending on the setting, I've used charcoal, a campfire, and the oven in my kitchen, and despite my mediocre abilities, the output has been good.

Great little book with simple recipes
Great little book with simple recipes, I like the "camping hacks" tips on preparing before you get to your campsite. The Citrus Chipotle pork was GREAT makes a great sauce to pour over too, and paired it with the apricot and almond rice pilaf. I used a 12" DO(book recipes based on using a 12"DO), and have used a 10"DO for some of the breakfast breads, and rice dishes...full recipes worked great in the 10"DO, just adjusted some of coal/briquette numbers in the recipe. I highly recommend this book.

Good book for beginner.
I just got this book but I have skimmed it and feel it is what I was looking for. I am new to Dutch oven cooking with charcoal. This book has a lot of info that I need to get started both baking and cooking with my Dutch oven. It talks about how to place your coals and how many coals you need for what temperature. There is a lot of info online about this type of cooking but if we lose power that won’t do me much good. I want to practice now so if we don’t have an extended power outage, I’ll be ready to cook outside.

Good book for novice dutch oven chefs.
We bought this book to take on a camping trip and use with our Dutch ovens. We found it to be easy to follow and worked well. We are novices at Dutch oven cooking but managed to make some of the recipes in this book. Our family enjoyed the meals.

Great resource!
Great layout, information, and meal planning. Goes over seasoning the oven at home or in the field, placement of coals, and multi-day meal planning. So far the recipes are simple and good, the best kind of camp food.

The Only Camping Cookbook You Need To Own
Once you own this recipe book, you will sell your home and move into your tent permanently. It's that good. Our copy has sauces splattered across the cover. Pages are stuck together from the delicious splashes of recipes now staples to our camp. If George Washington would have had this cookbook at Valley Forge, the war would have been won in a day.Don't be stupid. Buy this book.

Nice, easy recipes
Nice, easy recipes. Would be nice if photos were included. Some of the recipe's were a little fancy, but only 5 ingredients so not too hard!

Nice little book
Good little book. American publication someasurements so the ingredients are in 'cups' and some items are unfamiliar but if you can cope with that the recipes are straightforward and simple to achieve. My husband has been impressed by the results so far.
