GEFU Egg Pricker with Timer, Stainless Steel

FURIOUS it broke after ONE week of GENTLE use…I was very happy since the timer worked great, looked good. Was planning on leaving 5 star review then it BROKE. Timer still worked but bell would not ring. Since I am the type to want to find out why, I took it apart. A PIECE FELL OUT, looks IMPORTANT ! It seems it was not attached in assembly, so friction and a matter of time it would fall off. It has to do with winding the bell spring. The other part with the timer still works. I spent an HOUR to re attach it with the gear that fell off with tinkering. The alignment of both is critical for proper working, and I was of course trial and error. After it was working again I assume the top of the metal post has to be bent over the ends to hold the little piece in place. I did that and it seems to be working, we’ll see if it holds. See photos. This kind of cheap assembly to save costs ruins what seems to be a good device. Maybe the designers could have anticipated cheap assembly and make it easier to do correctly. How many of these are out there with loose parts waiting to fall off?

I bought this timer to use as a visual timer for my special needs child. I'm a teacher and we often use timers with the red shade to help younger students visualize how much time they have to complete a task. My daughter needed to have one for use at home but the ones sold by education big box stores run between $20-30 each, don't have a buzzer or ringtone, and in general they're a piece of garbage and break too easily. This little kitchen timer does everything I need it to (shows the visual and buzzes) and has the added bonus of the magnet on the back. I bought two, one for home and one for her to have at her desk at school and it has been perfect! The volume level of the buzz is perfect for her because it's loud enough to hear but not so loud the whole class stops and looks. They can easily tune out that noise because it's not obnoxiously loud. It was a great investment!

I purchased this timer on 4/23/17 and today 5/27/17 it stopped working. It's too late to return it now. For some background: I had one of these that I bought in June 2014 and it was fine until march 2017. It seemed worth it to me to buy another one if I got 3 years out of it because it's convenient to have on the fridge, it doesn't tick too loud and it's a nice looking timer. Maybe the quality has gone down since then, or I got a bad one. Either way, it's not worth buying.

Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Alarm is barely audible and lasts for a second.

Just turn the dial and that's it. For me and the way I cook, this is much easier than a digital timer where you have to punch in the numbers. Maybe it's because I have young kids, so cooking is a juggling act which requires substantial multi tasking between the kitchen and the children. When I have kids tugging at my apron strings or some other child related thing that requires my attention at the end of a long day, it's must easier to turn the dial and walk away than hit a bunch of numbers on my oven timer. Anyone that has kids knows what I'm talking about. If you don't have kids, you might be rolling your eyes and wondering how difficult can it be to push a few numbers on a digital timer.... trust me. Come back and talk to me after you've had a couple children. ;)I really like the visual red indicator that shows how much time is left. You can see from across the room approximately how much time is left without having to go right up to the device. For those of us that are getting a little older and our vision isn't quite as sharp as it used to be, this is a nice feature.Another plus is that if I need to let my child know how much longer he has for something, the visual indicator helps him start understanding the concept of "length of time". The decreasing amount of red visually shows him how much time is left for any given activity, task, etc.I am taking away one star because it's not exact to the second. This is something you just have to sacrifice with a manual timer like this. So if you have a very sensitive recipe or task that you are timing and need something EXACTLY precise, this will not work for you. But for general cooking, it works fine.Also, it only rings once, for like 5 seconds. Unlike a digital timer, it will not keep ringing until you reset it. So if you miss the first and only ring, there's no second chance until you look at the clock to see that it's gone off.The magnetic feature is nice, I just stick it on my oven so it's right there when I need it.I use this over my oven timer probably 9 out of 10 times because it's so much easier for me.

I love the "disappearing pie wedge" of this timer. I like having the visual representation of how much time is left.I use this in the office, so I wish the ringer was a little quieter, but I know that isn't what it's designed for!

I actually bought this timer primarily for the red time passing display for my 6 year old grandson. It is a perfect visual helper and the magnet is strong to keep it safely on the fridge. Well worth the money!

I love this timer. I use it in my classroom as a visual timer for my young students. No more. "Are we almost done" or "when is it time for..."

This is not an egg pricker. It is a timer only.

Dieser Gefu Timer sieht gut aus und scheint auf den ersten Blick sehr gut verarbeitet, die ersten Wochen tat er auch wirklich was er sollte, er erinnerte mich mit einem "klingeln" daran, die Eier aus den Topf zu nehmen oder das Gargut im Ofen zu wenden ect. . Allerdings nach relativ kurzer Zeit im Einsatz (ca. 8 Wochen) versagte die Klingel komplett, demnach total nutzlos geworden. Schade!

Por parte de Amazon todo perfecto. El temporizador es bonito, de tamaño apropiado y funciona a la perfección con la salvedad del timbre que suena demasiado bajo, yo no lo oigo cuando estoy en la cocina cacharreamdo. Una pena todo lo demás es perfecto.
