My search might as well be over
I am very careful about the supplements I put in my body. I want to find the most pure with appropriate affordability. I have found that Carlson is one of the best places to get some of the highest quality supplements. This product is actually regularly tested by the FDA, which is a bigger deal than it sounds because the supplement market is essentially unregulated, leading to potentially dangerous substances if you're not diligent in your research. This passes international standards of purity as well. Many fish oil pills out there aren't exactly honest about how much fish oil is actually in the pill and what the content of the fish oil is. With this you see exactly what the EPA and DHA content is relative to the amount of fish oil as well as where it was sourced. A personal benefit for me is that it's distributed in Illinois, USA, and I like supporting businesses inside our country.I don't really care about the flavor. I down the pills immediately. They are somewhat large, so it might be difficult for some people (it's difficult for my fiancee). It's not for me as every morning I down 11 pills of various medications and supplements at once, maybe I'm a freak.I take 2 pills per day, not because that's the recommended dose on the bottle, but because I've done some extensive research as to how much EPA and DHA is appropriate for my intended benefits and what scientific research suggests. There are a number of other supplements out there where I take well above bottle-dose due to this research. I highly recommend listening to podcasts, reading books or chapters in books, or online videos of credible scientists if you want to learn about what sort of benefits you will get and what that dose should be. For example, 70% of Americans are Vitamin D deficient, especially if you live up north. And Vit.D is 1/24th of your DNA. There are some serious life-long problems if you don't have an appropriate amount of Vit.D. It's not as simple as having it in a multi-vitamin and taking a simple pill. I make sure to have between 4-6 grams per day, depending on the season (which is already high, relatively speaking). I'm pretty active outdoors so I do get a good amount of sun but I am up north. And I also don't have an abnormal deficiency. You won't know what your body's Vit.D levels are without testing. You might need to take 10 grams a day if you're especially deficient and want to make sure you fall within the sweet zone of 40-60 ng/ml.All in all, this product from Carlson is fantastic and you can trust it to achieve your goals, but you need to figure out what those goals are first. Do some research and you'll reap the rewards.
